MickMartin82 0
Hi, my name is Fergus Dowd I am from Ireland I just wanted to draw your attention to a sports auction and charity cycle from Ireland to the North East of England in aid of Motor Neurone Disease. We have a legends shirt signed by some NUFC greats including Tino Aspirilla, Phillip Alert,Bobby Moncur,Liam O'Brien,Malcom McDonald, Shay Given and many others - a signed football by the late great Sir Bobby Roson and Alan Shearer also a worn pair of Shay Given inc grass stains - see link below for pics and detail. http://www.scottbell...om/?page_id=566 There are over 50 items with donations from clubs and former player associtaions in England,Spain,Scotland,Wales,Holland and Ireland. The reason for the fundraising is due to a friend from Northumbria in England Scott Bell who played for Blyth Spartans AFC of the Conference North being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at the tender age of 32. The motor neurone diseases (MND) are a group of neurological disorders that selectively affect motor neurones, the cells that control voluntary muscle activity including speaking, walking, breathing, swallowing and general movement of the body; 50% of people die in the first 14 months after being diagnosed. Scott's story has been featured on BBC Look North and the Carlow Nationalist in Ireland have also featured the story via journaist Kieran Murphy. The cycle is a football ground themed cycle which will take place over 4 days in May of this year and will see 21 cyclists, cycle from Dublin to Windsor Park Belfast and take a short ferry to Scotland and visit Ibrox Park,Celtic Park,Easter Road, Tynecastle and The Stadium of Light and St. James Park in the NE of England. The target is to arrive at Croft Park home of Blyth Spartans by 2pm Saturday the 5th of May for a charity match in aid of motor neurone disease. Gary Mackay ex Hearts and Scotland international has kindly agreed to cycle with us from Easter Road in Edinburgh to Tynecastle, we are also awaiting confirmation from ex Hibs & Scotland keeper Alan Rough that he will also cycle with Gary and ourselves. To note the cycle is self funded and we have the support of Scott his family, the MNDA in the UK and Blyth Spartans AFC. You can find out more about the Fund and the MNDA here - www.scottbellfund.com and www.mnda.org The cycle is advertised here on The European Former Players Assoc website as well as Blyth Spartans official website,Everton Former players website and Linfield FC official website. http://www.efpafootball.com/ (scroll down after Gary Speed story) http://blythspartansafc.co.uk/new_php/?p=6167 http://www.linfieldfc.com/linfieldinthecommunity.asp?id=7768 http://www.evertonfpf.org/2012/01/scott-bell-fund/ Thanks for your time and please pass on too anybody who you believe would be interested in these donated items.
