BigWalrus 0
Dream move for him, not so much of a dream move for us since we already have Ben Arfa, Gutierrez and Marveaux, with the likes of Sammy and Obertan lurking in the background. He's looked brilliant in some games and been completely anonymous in the rest (ie most of them). For £10m and £70k a week, there are better options out there. We only have a limited amount of money to spend, and blowing £10m (plus £3m+ a year on wages) on a position where we're already reasonably strong is just silly. We'd be far better off focussing on CB/RB/Striker, which is thankfully what we seem to be doing.
The Fish 10963
Don't you think you are being a little anal? Either way, we don't compete for a very good player who actually supported the team as a kid, so you'd think it would be a dream move for him. No, There's a massive difference between me being unable to buy a biscuit and me not wanting to. I've got faith in G.Carr and Pardew that if we really wanted A.Johnson, we'd have thrown our hats in the ring. Put it this way, we were keen on Gervinho, then through a combination of him not being good enough, him reportedly being a dick in meetings with NUFC officials and demanding too much we pulled out. Look how that turned out. If we didn't put our hats in the ring for Johnson, it's because we don't want him, not because we can't get him.

I agree that it might be difficult to accomodate him if Ben Arfa continues to improve, but it would be a nice dilemma to be in. I also think that, unlike obertan, Johnson will get better playing more games which he didn't do at man city.
StoneColdStephenIreland 74
Boyata's away to FC Twente aswell. Looks like they're preparing for Douglas leaving, whether it be us or Fulham is another question
David Kelly 1260
Ben Arfa's miles better than Johnson. I like Johnson a lot but HBAs on a different level for me.

Monroe Transfer 0
4 year contract. For once I'm sort of jealous of them, yet on the other hand we don't desperately need a player in his position. Maybe it's the fact that they're willing to spend money that I'm jealous of - they've spent at least £22m in one day.
Kid Dynamite 7169
Good catch for them as he's a decent player, but they still only have 2 'good' players amongst a few average players and a lot of dross. Can't imagine what sort of wages he's on to turn down Spurs and Liverpool for them too. RTG is in meltdown at the minute People pronouncing this as the best day of their lives etc. Hope we end up with Douglas and Carroll on top of Anita just to shut them up tbh
Monroe Transfer 0
Aw, look at them. http://www.readytogo...isplay.php?f=86 Describe your feelings right now Its been a pleasure! I have waited ages for this And about 10 other separate threads about him signing. Does that board actually employ mods? Oh and 2 separate threads about making a chant up for Ellis Short. Kid Dynamite 7169
They have also linked to this thread hello. Congrats on the signings. Johnson is a good player and Fletcher will convert at least one chance he lays on every 4 or 5 games. If you're lucky

JawD 99
Let's be honest here. AJ is a canny player I'd have liked here if we didn't have Ben Arfa. He is a local lad which any team likes and has supported NUFC as a youngun. Prob a good move for him and is for them. Not as sure about Fletcher like. BigWalrus 0
Aye, he's a good signing for them. It definitely says that O'Neill is playing in the only way he knows - direct football with two wingers and a big lad up front. The derby game could be a cracker!
