manc-mag 1
Jonas splits the fans? Only come across about three nutcase loons who don't love the bloke and the work he puts in for the team. Again, no one mentioned love or work rate, just creativity on the wing. Do you ever consider his importance in the context of the team though or merely in the sense that he's not Stanley Matthews? We're not a good enough team to play unbridled free flowing football (not meant pejoratively, just specifically mean we wouldn't be as high as we are if we did). A massive part of our game is about work ethic. Need to get away from the idea he's some sort of cart horse too just because he doesnt put it on the strikers head from the touchline. Hardly any goals are scored that way in truth. What's worse, this acceptance that his crosses are less than world beating has somehow become shorthand for him not being able to play any sort of forward pass at all, which is just patent nonsense. Christmas Tree 4824
I have said many times there are some games when his defensive duties have been much needed, particularly when Rtaylor was covering left back. As I keep saying it's his attacking ability which is poor. Let's move the argument on. We are now doing better playing 433, particularly IMO when Guthrie, Tiote and Cabaye are the midfield three. Let's say injuries have all cleared up and we go 433 against Stoke. Would people rather have Jonas in the midfield three or Guthrie?

Dr Gloom 22147
CT, you're definitely in the minority regarding your views about jonas. Most of us love him - he's been one of our best players this season and is new vice captain on merit. I'd have him in the middle of midfield ahead of Guthrie too, but only just. As I was when I welcomed Hughton in the Job or when I said we'd come straight back up following relegation or when I said we'd do well our first season back or when I agreed with the decision to replace Hughton with Pardew or when I said Ashley would make the club a success or when I told NUSC to buy a pub etc etc et fucking cetra
Lake Bells tits 1
I also appreciate Jonas as much as the next supporter, but his legs are going and compared to ben arfa he offers the square root of fuck all going forward. For the time being he is a solid performer, but looking into the horizon we would do well to look for a winger with a bit more... venom offensively. He is still reasonably young and thus worth money...just saying.

ChezGiven 0
The minority said we'd come straight back up following relegation, are you sure about that? Quite funny really, i guessed that the summer of 2009 was 90 pages ago and these are the first 2 threads I clicked on. http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/24583-well-need-at-least-86-points-next-season/ http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/24612-realistic-finishing-position-next-season/ And then just randomly thought I'd bump this thread where Luke seems to claim to have shagged and dumped Ashley's daughter. http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/24034-this-girl-im-seeing/
