Gene_Clark 12
Bland, dull AOR power ballads warbled by someone from Eastenders, or so it appears. Would turn it off but golf is even fucking worse

ToonMarshy 2
I personally cannot stand most female vocalist artists nowadays, mainly due to most of them all being the exact same bloody sound. That being said, Adelle has the 'big is beautiful' bandwagon behind her, meaning most criticism of her gets put down to being a chauvinistic misogynous asshole

Ayatollah Hermione 13873
Adele is the culmination of Whitney Houston's "shout-a-lot" legacy. Vocal talent swapped for vocal power. No more building to choruses and peaks, oh no. Shout from line 1. Gloria Jones is rolling in her grave
Tom 14011
She sounds like a bad impression of a motown singer. I really can't understand how people can listen to music like hers but I suppose she sells a lot of records. I also agree with pretty much most female vocalists sounding pretty much the same, I think it may be a product of the X Factor, almost an over emphasis of faux expression rather than actually trying to make something genuinely musical. Gene_Clark 12
The last act I saw live who have a female singer were Beauty Pageant, supporting Davey Henderson at the Star & Shadow. I liked them tremendously; reminded me of NYC No Wave stuff like Teenage Jesus with Lydia Lunch or Essential Logic. Have a listen.... http://soundcloud.com/beauty-pageant

Birds with a bit of presence and personality as well as the vocals to go with it. But my favourite artist of all time is kate bush, so what the hell do i know xD

Meenzer 15531
Some of the best female vocalists around are in the country music field. Tend not to hear much of them over here though (or get them on tour either - boo). Edited April 5, 2012 by Meenzer
Gemmill 44900
I think she's a talented lass personally. Not my kind of music at all, but she writes a decent tune and she can belt them out. I fell asleep on the sofa over Christmas and woke up to her Royal Albert Hall show. I immediately thought meh this'll be shit, but 10 minutes later I'm sat genuinely impressed by this 21 year old lass up there belting out her own stuff. There's a lot worse to worry yourself over in modern music tbf, Christ.

Saw her at the academy 2 (a corridor in the academy) a few years back with about 50 other people. Brilliant. Fox Confessor is one of ny favourite albums. Terrible to be told she's just the same as Bjork

ChezGiven 0
Saw her first tour in Paris, 19 is a phenomenal album. I remember Laura Marling's first album came out at the same time and thinking, this is just a new conveyor belt of artists. Sadly it was just those two and neither of them have re-created the quality of their first albums. I would stand up all day and defend Adele as a singer. She's very good.
