Surprised you watch telly, I thought you'd be rereading your heavily thumbed and cum-stained 1st edition copy of Das Kapital. Oooohhh the dialectic

don't take this the wrong way mate, but i'm really not interested in what you think.

I personally cannot stand most female vocalist artists nowadays, mainly due to most of them all being the exact same bloody sound.

That being said, Adelle has the 'big is beautiful' bandwagon behind her, meaning most criticism of her gets put down to being a chauvinistic misogynous asshole

She's no Sandy Denny or Diamanda Gallas

She sounds like a bad impression of a motown singer.

I really can't understand how people can listen to music like hers but I suppose she sells a lot of records. I also agree with pretty much most female vocalists sounding pretty much the same, I think it may be a product of the X Factor, almost an over emphasis of faux expression rather than actually trying to make something genuinely musical.

Well it's an improvement on utter hysteria so I suppose we should be grateful.

is that a dance act?

Why aren't you like this all the time?

I'm not gonna embarrass meself but i'll admit i have no idea who those ladies are (may have to give them a check out )

I'n all honesty (and this may be showing my youth here) but most of what i'd consider decent female vocalists/fronts persons faded out in the 90's - skin from skunk anansie or catatonia, hell even early gwen stefani in now doubt. Birds with a bit of presence and personality as well as the vocals to go with it.

But my favourite artist of all time is kate bush, so what the hell do i know xD

Sandy Denny (RIP) was a folk singer; Diamanda Galas is an opera singer - just two contrasting female singers I like

Some of the best female vocalists around are in the country music field. Tend not to hear much of them over here though (or get them on tour either - boo).

I think she's a talented lass personally. Not my kind of music at all, but she writes a decent tune and she can belt them out. I fell asleep on the sofa over Christmas and woke up to her Royal Albert Hall show. I immediately thought meh this'll be shit, but 10 minutes later I'm sat genuinely impressed by this 21 year old lass up there belting out her own stuff.

There's a lot worse to worry yourself over in modern music tbf, Christ.

Have you listened to much Neko Case, Meenz? Not proper country like but her voice is brilliant.

Saw her at the academy 2 (a corridor in the academy) a few years back with about 50 other people. Brilliant. Fox Confessor is one of ny favourite albums.

Terrible to be told she's just the same as Bjork ;)

Any relation to Peter Case? He's coming to The cluny soon

Saw her first tour in Paris, 19 is a phenomenal album. I remember Laura Marling's first album came out at the same time and thinking, this is just a new conveyor belt of artists. Sadly it was just those two and neither of them have re-created the quality of their first albums. I would stand up all day and defend Adele as a singer. She's very good.
