TheMoog 0
In this case I need to repeat myself from another thread: Americans, while obviously a large and powerful nation are only that due to their size and wealth. They have no history worth mentioning and in general are ridiculously stupid and overweight, thinking the rest of the world revolves around them. The only thing they do well is gluttony and ignorance, fucking 'soccer' indeed!
tooner 243
In this case I need to repeat myself from another thread: Americans, while obviously a large and powerful nation are only that due to their size and wealth. They have no history worth mentioning and in general are ridiculously stupid and overweight, thinking the rest of the world revolves around them. The only thing they do well is gluttony and ignorance, fucking 'soccer' indeed! The proper name of what most the world call "football" and the Americans call "soccer" is association football. The word "soccer" comes from an alteration of "assoc.", which is an abbreviation of "association football" (as opposed to Rugby or Gaelic football, etc). The use of the term can be traced back to about 1880: it's documented as soccer or socca in 1889, and socker in 1891. Soccer seemed have become the most common phrase by 1895. Originally it was only university slang; it was habitual for English university students in the 1880s to abreviate any word and then add on 'er' or 'ers' to it (so breakfast became brekkers, or rugby became ruggers). Because this linguistic habit belonged to an elite social group is probably why the name soccer never caught on among the masses in most of the world. Perhaps it would never have caught on in the United States, except that Americans already had their own preferred 'football' game. so you guys came up with name not north americans. Gemmill 44996
Gemmill used to live in the USA and in the end had to come home because he was looking down his nose so much he had literally gone cross-eyed. I love America and most Americans are class. Not really responding to what you said btw, cos I know you're messing. But the reaction from some people to this thread being posted - wind your necks in cunts, or I will literally challenge you all to take me on in the octagon whereupon I will bust your entire arses. Gemmill 44996
Californians mostly. Although I did some work in the Midwest and the people there were great. They have a different, and much healthier outlook on life than your average Brit (me included). More positive.
Gemmill 44996
Met some people in the south as well. Bit more hit and miss there, although the friendly ones were ridiculously nice people.

It's more or less a state apart and has been heavily affected by immigration from various countries and therefore changed. The the top and bottom is Gemms you haven't really met any Americans. Gemmill 44996
Aye I lived and worked there 3 and a half years. I worked with people from all over the US and yet somehow I never met any Americans. You know best from Hamburg.

You know best from Hamburg. You wanna try your 'postitivity' craic in Detroit and report back. It's well know California is wildy liberal and full of Americans whove actually READ A BOOK. More-so they love the British. It's the place a lot of interesting amricans gravitate to as is NY. Those two aside America is a wasteland of malls, ignorance and daytime telly. Gemmill 44996
Read a book. When you've actually lived there, you don't need to read a book to find out what it's like. You just walk out your front door. Thanks for the advice though.

tooner 243
the states are surreal.....and wildly diverse, and they are easy to make generalisations about (correct or percieved) since their way of life is so pervasive throughout the media. when i lived there i met lots of really nice people and lots of fucking idiots, hard to put 'em all in one basket. PL is right though california and NYC are unlike anywhere else in the states....wyoming (cheny's home state) is fucking scary.
Kitman 2207
I lived in the US for a while when I was growing up, and I've been to the US a few times on holiday. I love it, in fact it's a fantastic country (for all its problems) and I'd live there again if I could. Having said that, I've never heard of this Diana bloke (strange name) and I couldn't give a toss about his opinions on, well, anything.

I agree with you in the sense that if America was closer to what it should have been and the original ideas it WOULD BE A GREAT PLACE. Kevin S. Assilleekunt 1
I went up the Eiffel tower with a girl from New Jersey who lives in NY. She was annoying as fuck. The US tourists in Paris used the word 'like' like, all the time. It was like totally ridiculous. One conversation we had went like this: "I saw some good buskers in the met stations this morning." "Like, whaaaatt?" "I saw a good busker in the met station." "Buské?" "BUS-KER" "Like, what is thatt?" "A BUSKER. A musician playing on the street." "Oh my goodddd, like, I've never heard that before...." *mumbling* "jesus fucking christ" "Whatttt? Buské?" "I can see now why guns are made so readily available in your country"

Kid Dynamite 7034
I spent time in Alabama, Georgia, Tennesse and Northern Florida. Met lots of nice people but they weren't big fans of muslamics or the black folk. Lots of churches in Alabama. Like 15 in one town a lot
