Stupid decision by him really. Tbh I would expect them to bounce straight back up from League 1, but if they hit administration and start with a 15 point penalty, it could be tough going. If they're thinking about administration surely the time to do that is now, not next season when it could relegate them again.
Rayvin 5176
Yeah but I was reading one of their threads on that, and some of them think this would never happen because of their external debt. That company, SCP or whatever they are, wouldn't let them hit administration until the summer, so that they can sell off players and collect parachute payments first. So from a financial standpoint it doesn't make sense to do it now. Also understand that if they don't hit administration this month, then the penalty is applied next season anyway. David Kelly 1221
Aye I think they'd struggle to come straight back up if they go down this season. Their better players (ie the ones out on loan) will all fuck off for a relatively small fee which will go to their creditors. There'll be a few more who either retire or leave on a free/for pittance too. If their finances are as bad as it appears then they could well have no spending power even if they would be a team that would be attractive to players at that level. They really should have cleared the decks in the summer and tried to start again without the poison that's been in there for years. In fact they would have been better getting relegated three years ago and doing it then. But they were too busy with their six in a row ftm! Howmanheyman 32715
To be honest, I think it's a strange move full stop to close down any of their stands after Bob Murray said he wanted them to always have at least one more seat than Newcastle. If anything they need to increase their capacity to overtake us not cut back. If he was dead he'd be turning in his grave. FTM.

Howmanheyman 32715
Some breaking transfer news. A big blow for black cats fans as Billy the fitter said he's busy in the summer and has a family holiday already booked so won't be able to move some of the redder seats down from the empty stand to replace the pink ones. SAFC refused to comment saying they were still in negotiations with Billy hoping he'd accept four season tickets and four £100 vouchers to be spent in the club shop for the work rather than the £5,658 Billy quoted the club. More as we get it.

As their biggest creditor surely Short could put them into administration when he wants?

ewerk 30238
Funny how we both made a £30m profit on transfers in the Championship yet things turned out a little differently for us. 1
StoneColdStephenIreland 74
Still genuinely can't believe Everton paid 30 miw for Pickford. Sunderland were in no position to barter ad they were desperate for money. I still think 15 would have got him.

Luckily, Sunderland are still in the shit despite the £30m and it's also done Everton no favours either. Only winner in this case is the kids bank balance and his agents fee. Agree it was a joke transfer fee especially in the circumstances. At least Sissoko had two clubs battling it out for him, (for some strange reason). They had no rival bidder and Sunderland were in no position to bargain a price for him so whoever made the deal on Evertons behalf wants shot with shite. TheGingerQuiff 2412
They can't get their little inbred heads around how saying staying up would be Benitezs fault and going down wouldn't be isn't contradictory.
