essembeeofsunderland 811
It looks like quite a few of them wasted 90 minutes of their miserable lives watching Huddersfield get beat last night and they are still trying to convince themselves they sent us down.Is the Premier League this season a knock out competition. Tom 14011
No it's a league system. Bottom three go down, the team finishing top win the competition. It's features 20 Teams that play each other twice.
Kevin Carr's Gloves 3894
They must be nailed on for the drop now. 20 points from a possible 84 so far. If they keep that up thats 8 points from the remaining games. Third bottom already have 27. Even if they pull their finger out and manage an extra 3 points there is no way 31 will be enough to survive.
essembeeofsunderland 811
Only in the makem mind then is the Premier League on occasions a knock out competition. Thanks for that.

essembeeofsunderland 811
It's a league system though. Not last season though. The makems reckon they relegated us.I thought you were relegated after playing 38 games and having played every team twice. Meenzer 15524
I'm a little surprised you're struggling to understand the concept. Tom's explained it quite clearly already.
adios 717
I always thought it was 36 matches and then playoffs. Maybe that's what the Mackems mean.
essembeeofsunderland 811
37 league games with the makems v Everton a knockout game with us being relegated if Everton don't win.Different rules this season.

The Fish 10857
Jason Burt, Chief Football Correspondent 20 March 2017 • 3:55pm Jermain Defoe has admitted that he will probably have to leave Sunderland if they are relegated from the Premier League if he wants to remain in the England squad. The 34-year-old striker has been recalled by manager Gareth Southgate for Wednesday’s friendly away to Germany and the World Cup qualifier at home to Lithuania next Sunday and spoke of his delight. However with Sunderland bottom of the league, despite Defoe’s goal-scoring feats, he conceded that it may be difficult for him to retain his place if he is no longer in the top-flight. “Obviously you have to be realistic and to get into any squad it is based on merit and you need to be playing at the top level,” Defoe said. “When I went to Toronto (in MLS in early 2014) I missed out on going to the World Cup and it was a hard call to take. I would say I probably need to be playing in the Premier League but we will see what happens.”
Howay 12496
He's best off praying for continued injuries to Kane and co, as them being injured is the only reason he's made the squad. Getting his excuses in when he walks off at the end of the season mind, imagine the fucking plight of the mackems without his goals man.
Alex 35077
I struggle to see them not finishing bottom of the league, let alone staying up.

Howay 12496
I was more meaning the plight of them as a team in general as opposed to their position, but aye the position wouldn't change

Howay 12496
I know mate, just taking the piss out of them. It never gets boring. Very true, just didn't want everyone thinking I was a divvy for thinking their position would change. It'll be even funnier next year when he leaves and they're scrapping to avoid relegation with Burton Albion.

rob032 38
I did get a good chuckle when Anichebe had a couple of games and they all seemed to think he was the second coming of Drogba. Big Vic. (They can't help themselves, can they?) Then other teams decided to start marking him a bit and it went quiet again. The Fish 10857
I was more meaning the plight of them as a team in general as opposed to their position, but aye the position wouldn't change Of their 5 (five) wins, Defoe scored 3 game winners (Bournemouth, Hull, Leicester) and he rescued a point in two of their 5 draws (Southampton and Liverpool). So instead of 20pts, without Jermaine Defoe they could well be on 9.
Ayatollah Hermione 13863
They could potentially be looking forward to trips to Burton Albion and Fleetwood Town. Will be good to see our lot throwing the "Enjoy Burton Away!!" Crack back at them. They won't though because they're shit and they'll get beat
