Given who posted this, the highlighted here is off the fucking scale. This is the most bitter obsessed mackem prick ever.

As for their stadium being expanded, there's literally been a thread on their board about it recently that was several thousand posts long. The consensus was "Build it and they will come" even though they don't currently come and there's plenty of space :D

He lists a few things that he think disproves the notion they're a small club;

Young talent - plenty of smaller clubs have young talent on the pitch, plenty of big clubs don't.

One of their players walking through their shit tip town centre - has no bearing on the 'size' or tinpot-ness of the club

40k league crowds - would be impressive and would point to a bigger club, but they don't get that, now do they?

Big signings for the Championship - small(er) clubs can make impressive, surprising deals. Le Fee (I assume they're talking about him) could be an amazing signing, or he could be Aphonso Alves-esque

Absolute figment in the imagination of the journalist who wrote it at the time who in today's environment would've been pulled up about it online before either deleting it or muting replies. It was commented on by fans AT THE TIME WHO WERE ACTUALLY THERE, (unlike the halfwits posting on WearsideParanoia.com) and either laughed at as we knew it was turtle shit or angrily dismissed. I've no doubt the cunt in question just thought it's something they would probably say 'up there' and correctly assumed there'd be no real consequences back then. I can think of a few other fairytales the rags blatantly made up around then as well.

Am going to state that the specific signing of Andy Cole consigned what was left of the problem that was to be fair fairly vocal in the 1980s firmly to the dustbin of history where it belonged. The fucking opposite of what whoever the mackem cunt is/was claiming. It had largely stopped before 1993 iirc but Cole followed by Ferdinand killed racists even muttering bullshit under their breath . No idea if the mackems had a problem with racism in the 80s . I wasn’t there :cuppa:

In the last 10 years, they finished 17th in the PL, then got relegated, then flew down to League One, where they’ve spent the majority of the decade.
They are now having a spell up in the 2nd tier.
Since 1992, which is when they keep telling us football started for us, they’ve had an almost 50/50 split between being in the top tier, and bouncing around between 2nd and 3rd tier.
The last time they were in the top tier, Wenger was still in charge at Arsenal.

Their most famous victory was as a 2nd tier club.

They’ve never, once, filled their ground.

Their record low attendance was 3,498 vs Oldham Athletic in the EFL Trophy Second Round on 1 December 2021.
A match in the same competition against Bradford City on 9 November 2021 did not have and official attendance recorded

Their current record transfer is £16.5 million for N’Dong.

None of the above are comparisons to us, they are simple, verifiable facts about their club.

To be fairer to them than they deserve, they’re not a small club, but they’re also as far away from a big club as it’s possible to be.

Sunderland always had a bigger issue with racism than us, and still does. Newcastle, especially now, is much less insular and more cosmopolitan.

Like has been said, just last year they were singing songs about the size of Diallo's penis. Darren Bent. July riots. Tommy Robinson always found it fertile land. Brexit. I was at the SoL for the England match against Turkey where it resembled a brown shirt ralley. Fucking horrible racist place Sunderland is.  How this prick has the nerve is beyond me.

Also I'm not clear how dressing as an arab (which I have never personally witnessed) is racist but apparently calling them camel humpers, murderers and generally considering then subhuman isn't? "Article" on Andy Cole. Beardsley getting fired, you what?

Finished 7th in the league twice in my lifetime. We finished 7th last year and were disappointed. Hell, we finished 7th under Glen fucking Roeder and 5th under Pardew.

Four appearances in Europe against two teams. Wigan have played six games. Massive.

I think you're timing is pretty much correct  there. back end of the 80s was much improved from the shame of the mid 80s, which was grim. although it hadn't disappeared, mrs tbd's first ever home game was a 2-3 4th round fa cup defeat to man utd early 1990 and she was both shocked and angry at the abuse directed to danny wallace and we were in the much more reserved west stand paddocks.  :(

Tbf Wallace was a diving, cheating cunt as well - I suppose it's the Welsh/black adjective use that makes the difference.

Is dressing as Arabs and dressing as Sheiks two different things?

I see they’ve ditched their policy of only trying to sign young players by putting a bid in for Tommy Cannon. I think he’s passed it and was never any good in first place.

I also don’t understand what pride you’d take from a player you’d previously had on loan doing well back at their proper club. It’s not exactly David Beckham at Preston North End considering how MASSIVE Sunderland are.

And is Diallo a superstar in the making or just the latest in a long line of overrated Man Utd youngsters? (He’s not even that young).

That would be them to a tee. Pretending to be one of the famous ‘mag haters’ they’re always supposedly speaking to on their travels.
