Claudio Marangoni (sp?) They sacked him off (chased away home) because he was shit marra and if I recall it was reported a year later that he became South American player of the year.

In fairness they’ve had a few decent players, none of them were at their best when they played there like, but: Lee Clarke, Andy Cole, Barry Venison, Alan Kennedy, Paul Bracewell, Shay Given, Chris Waddle, Bob Moncur, to name a few.

Let's not forget David Kelly either. The only player wearing a Sunderland shirt I've witnessed being applauded onto the pitch at SJP by the home fans.
