Kevin Carr's Gloves 3892
I may be late to the party here but didn't short sell the debt to an outside agency? If he did then after a certain amount of time he can go into administration and wipe the debt off. Then in 1-2 years he can sell the club without its debt and get his investment back. I could very well be totally wrong here. Apologies if this has already been said?
ewerk 30598
Only part of the debt is external. It isn't as simple as going into administration and wiping the debt while retaining control. Administrators would most likely sell the club to somone else and he'd receive only a small fraction of what he's owed.
The Fish 10856
From the Chronicle re: administration Quote But sources on Wearside insist the rumours are false, with owner Ellis Short continuing to fund the club’s shortfalls. While there is no prospect of entering administration, Sunderland’s financial situation continues to hamper the club both on and off the field. The Black Cats’ latest accounts, which covered the 12 months ending July 31, 2016, showed that the club had an annual wage bill of £83.8m, and made a loss of £33m while the overall debt level stood at £110m. The club has since been relegated from the Premier League which means its income will fall dramatically this season, cancelling out the money raised by the sale of Jordan Pickford for £30m and the reduction in the club’s wage bill made by offloading players, while almost all those that remained have taken a 40 per cent pay cut. The biggest single hit to Sunderland’s income is the loss of revenue from the Sky Premier League TV deal, which saw the Black Cats collect around £100m last season, but that figure will be under £10m this term, plus the parachute payment of around £45m. Chief executive Martin Bain was installed last year and part of the brief handed to him by Short was to put the club on the path towards a sound financial footing. The Fish 10856
They currently have fewer points than Rotherham did at this stage in the 16/17 season. Not saying they're going down, but to get promoted automatically, they need about 84pts from 39 games. 2.15PpG. Or 28 wins from their remaining games (or, say, 25 wins and 9 draws), Brighton managed 28 wins all season.
