Or they refused to pay him off and the only way he could end the hell was to walk away for nothing.

Actually, why would he have gotten £3m for resigning?

Apparently a few of their players refused to play against Chelsea, Kone was specifically mentioned. Three were injured, weren't they? Kone, Ndong and Defoe? So, they're off. I'd expect Pickford to go too. Leaves them with a pretty shit squad and if Moyes has been told the cupboards are bare, he's probably thought "fuck this", but not "fuck you".

Michael Gray:

"Yeah they did (refuse to play), which I found really shocking when you have a contract at a football club."

"When you have inside info from people like that and you have players knocking on the manager’s door saying they don’t want to play it tells you what kind of state the football club is in."

"That’s got nothing to do with David, if the players come up to him and say they don’t want to play then they don’t deserve to be at the football club in the first place."

"One of them was Lamine Kone, who there was a lot of speculation about in the summer, he had his head turned by Everton."

"I’m not quite sure who the other player was but I definitely know there were two players who were knocking on David’s door."

"I know the injury list was getting bigger and bigger because the players were a little bit frightened of playing the last few games of the season or just weren’t enjoying their football."

"These type of players are the ones we need to get out of our club. When I say those type of players, I believe there will be 10-15 players leaving the club after the conversation I’ve had. I hope that’s the case."

That's pretty mental giving his age. But I'm guessing his agent pushed his overall record and the fact that he's a 'current' England international striker.

Proper out of  character for Bournemouth aswell like, they've risen through the leagues in a conservative manner up to now. Defoe's agent has worked wonders there, crazy money for a man of his age.

Bournemouth have always spent a canny whack, especially since coming up. In their first season, they blew about 10 million on Tyrone Mings, they spent £15 million on Ibe last season. They've definitely got it to spend.

They won't be on big wages and that isn't big money in today's market.

A £20m contract for Defoe isn't that mad imo.  If you paid a £15m fee what would it get you in todays market?  And the wages a £15m player would be on would take it well above £20m.  Defoe even at his age is a safer bet than someone you'd pay £15m for.  Obviously there's no resale value but if he keeps them up for another 3 seasons then he more than pays for himself.  And I wouldn't judge his last few months at the mackems.  Ronaldo would have struggled for goals in that side.

It's risky because a lot of their money comes from their owner. If he decided to fuck it all off they will need the premier league to money more than any other club.

Please let him sign for them only to fail.  The only good manager memory in recent years they have would be ruined.
