Do none of them think that maybe he's known about the lack of funds / dire financial position at the club since he was recruited and told then if they're relegated then it's not the worst thing?  That would go to explain why he's always talked about a relegation battle this season and everyone at their club seems resigned to being in the bottom three.

Why would someone even think they'd be able to manage that? "Aye I wouldn't be against a 22 goal striker in the league we're about to be in coming here" of course you wouldn't, if anyone was they'd be insane, but there's no chance whatsoever of something like that happening. Gayle also isn't just Championship standard imo, he was regularly the top scorer at Crystal Palace even when he was getting infrequent starts, he's a bottom half of the PL striker at the least.

I think you lot are forgetting about a very important stipulation the mackems come up with at the end of last season. Once we get promoted all of our squad are PREMIER LEAGUE PLAYERS, therefore all automatically too good for SAFC as they will be in the "lower leagues". So I'm afraid everyone will be above them, yes, even Jack Raymond Colback.

He's a natural finisher so regardless of what league he is in, if he gets chances he'll put them away.

They actually played alright last night and we certainly the better team in the first half.  But they never looked like scoring and Borini had the least effective game I've seen a premier league player have since Riviere.  If Hull and Swansea were to win tonight (Swansea have Spurs so it's unlikely) they will be all but guaranteed relegation.

Two months since their last goal

Fucking hell, man. I can understand some of their lot holding on to some hope (I honestly do) since without that faintest bit of hope, what's the point of even supporting your side? But, they're really stretching credibility now.

 Aye I thought the same but it is getting absurd now. They should really be looking at the Championship and seeing it as a chance to regroup and build a new side, maybe a 2-4 year project (I'm not even convinced of this with how badly they're run), but giving it the "well the mags are worse than us so we'll bounce back too" is just ridiculous and embarrassing. They're currently one of the worst sides the Premier League has ever seen, but they were happy to completely write us off when we missed survival by 1 point...

As it stands I don't think that squad of theirs would get promoted. But if they spend 30m or so, I don't see why they couldn't. They'd certainly be in playoff consideration with that manner of outlay.

You think? Aston Villa and Norwich spent more than that didn't they? Norwich had a far better squad than the mackems to start with as well. Take Defoe at that team (as he will be gone 100% despite some of their thoughts that he's Bradley's friend so he'll stay) and they'd be on about 8-11 points on track to be record breakers.

Just had a look and Norwich didn't spend much, they had a far better squad though and were tipped for the title by basically every pundit because Neill knew the league better than Benitez  .

It isn't just about a few players though, it's the entire losing attitude and lack of ambition that permeates through the club. It's part of the reason that Villa will be spending at least another year in the Championship.

Aye, it took a world-class(!) manager to unfuck the Newcastle squad, and it was about far, far more than a few solid players.

I guess so but bringing in a few new players can be a catalyst for mentality change. Granted, Moyes wouldn't be - but I doubt he'll last long anyway.

I'd say the biggest risk for them is that short refuses to countenance any significant expenditure.

It's also worth remembering money doesn't go a long way for the Mackems, they had to pay players ridiculous wages to attract them in the Premier League. Imagine the sort of shite they'll be struggling to attract next season.

Stuff like this wont help attracting players:
http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/04/05/patrick-van-aanholt-explains-how-he-forced-through-crystal-palac/

Their fanbase also seems to be very occupied with the quality of the Championship " I think quality of the championship is exceptionally poor this season in terms of the games I've watched, Brighton don't look great shakes either" they're forgetting that their team is utter hopeless as well but also that while the teams are full of cloggers it doesn't make beating them a cakewalk

"As bad as we are in the Prem we would still beat your lot like" Comments like this show how little many of them understand about football, this type of thinking has been evident from them all season that simply because their team happens to be part of the Premier division it is better. Ridiculous logic, I hope they carry it into next season as they'll be in for a hell of a shock.

Just noticed a new trend from them: this season is the worst ever quality wise ever for the Championship. Interesting that the maggie bastards got that sort of luck.
