It's embarrassing, I see your point though since everyone does it. Needs to be stamped out of the game with a few red cards.

I'd rather they stamped out the "fouled by the slight breeze created by a defender" problems first, over-reacting to highlight a nailed on a red card offence is way down the list for stamping out IMO

I think a demonstration that refs can get decisions like that right without the acting would stamp it out, not red cards, you've got to be a mong to suggest they should be sent off for making the most of something that did happen when it's a booking for pretending something did when it didn't which is ACTUAL cheating

Red cards are hardly stopping headbutting are they?!

I think it's because the average footballer is a bit dim

Aye. Unfortunately its the natural reaction for some people.

If you really think what Reina did was violent conduct then I fear for your safety on a night out. There was minimal if any contact between him and Perch and his reaction was embarrassing.

But as many people have said, that's how the game is played now, so why should we be any different? The real culprits are the referees, and by extension the FA. Diving has been a problem for a while but instead of stamping it out it's been allowed to fester to the extent that football is barely a contact sport and you get situations like Dzecko looking for the penalty against Sunderland on Saturday, then people (including former referee Dermot Gallagher on SSN this morning) saying that there was contact so he had the 'right to go down'. You only have the 'right to go down' if the law of gravity dictates you must ffs.

As a Newcastle fan I was glad to see Reina sent off, but as a football fan I wish the referee had told Perch to get up, get off and have an early bath. Because until they do start doing that it will remain the status quo.

You can't send a player off with a straight red for diving, that's the most absurd idea ever. Collymore's patter in the Europa League game ffs!

Do what they do in ice hockey - penalise both of them; one for the foul, one for simulation.

Why not? Booking them isn't really working, is it?

The real culprits are the players, the refs have an impossible job. By the letter of the law it was violent conduct, there is no need whatsoever to stick your head into someone's face, however minimal the contact. Sheer stupidity is the crime but the rule states violent conduct.

Perch was absolutely 100% correct doing what he did given the way the game is played these days. It's not particularly paletable, (especially to someone like me who watched in the days when players kicked lumps out of each other, dusted themselves down and got on with it) but it's the way it is.

The game is 75% cheating these days, if you can't beat them, join them, even then what Perch did was not cheating, what Carroll did was.

Because it's down to the ref and they get conned for 90 minutes each and every week, the ONLY way to do it is retrospectively with video evidence fine and ban the fuckers.

Reina was a straight red tbf and even Dalglish didnt complain. He had to run back towards Perch to even start shoving his head in his mush. Most of those type of confrontations happen when the players are literally standing next to each other to start with; Reina even had time to chill his beans, the daft Spanish cock.

We took a scouser to the game with us, I said Reina's head was soft and Perch went down like a fanny...he wouldn't have any sort of excuses though, said Reina only has himself to blame and the ref had no choice.

Lad at work this morning was saying Carroll should have been sent off, I had to explain that rule is a booking for a dive.

While undoubtedly soft I'm tempted to say Reina got Perch right between the eyes, however we all know that's a physical impossibility in his case.

That fuckwit on talksport tonight was saying that Perch's actions were worse than Carrolls because he got a fellow professional sent off and caused him to miss the semi final! It's difficult to think of how much more wrong he could be in that assertion.

Carrolls blatant dive could have resulted in his own former team mate getting sent off, which would have most likely meant we were having to try and pull back to level terms a player down for almost ninety minutes. Reina actually committed the offence he was rightly sent off for. It was totally his fault. All Perch did was to exagerate the pain which was suffered by Reinas offence. Yes it's not a part of the game that anyone wants to see but you see players acting in one form or another countless times in ever professional game in the world these days so if you're getting former referees saying that a player is perfectly within his rights to make the most of any contact in the box to win penalty you can't have a go at Perch for doing nothing different.

Perch tried and succeeded to get a fellow professional sent off. Carroll tried and failed. How can Perch's actions be worse? He is blatantly the winner.

Perch highlighted a sending off offence that had been committed, Carroll tried to invent one.
