Souness' Words of Wisdom

After the game, Graeme Souness said: "The idea was to frustrate the crowd and we were doing that, but then we gave away a very, very poor goal at a very, very bad time and that changed the complexion of the game.

"If we had kept it at 0-0 at half-time we felt we could have had a chance.

"We had opportunities to clear the ball before the second goal, but we didn't and we got punished.

"Individual mistakes have cost us. We conceded two goals through individuals not doing their jobs properly."

From gg-chat Spurs forum.

"The idea was to frustrate the crowd and we were doing that"

To be fair, if that is his target, he is doing very well.

If he meant the away one then he got is spot on.

"the idea was to frustrate the crowd."

What the fuck type of tactics does this suggest??? It suggests the same sort of drivel we can all come out with and hear from the tv pundits who have no specialised knowledge of football.

Keep it tight and frustrate the crowd; the rhetoric of football simpletons.

Souness is Shearers mate and the manager who keeps picking him though he's been a spent force as a top class striker for 2 years now. I'd love him if I was Shearer.

I disagree, Shearer gets picked because everyone else is even worse ;)

Reserve keeper Steve Harper, who is set to replace Given, admitted: "This place is cursed. Lee Clark and I were sitting there on the bench at White Hart Lane and we've both seen a lot at this club.

"There's a curse on this club and, if anyone can lift it, then feel free. With the luck we've had, we're just getting other people back from injury and then we've lost Michael to a bad one."

The only curse I can see is that of Souness.

But Souness has only been here just over a year....the bad luck goes back way further than that.

Like most things you only make your own luck, and if you're daft enough to believe it's only bad luck, then that amount of negativity will ensure that's all you'll get.

I'm not saying it's ONLY bad luck..... ;)

I agree with you about not using "bad luck" as an excuse, but I don't know what else you'd call losing our 2 best players in the same match....

should have depth in squad............ almost forgot, Souness managed to F***off a whole host of things NUFC........ did'nt he do well... this all started the day he took over..........best squad ever he had the pleasure to work with.... £50 million later. Souness has created the TFD, no-one else.

As for being 'cursed', we should have lost against Villa (Barrie missed penalty) Pompey away (Given masterclass) and yesterday (last kick of game) so to say we get bad luck all of the time is utter shite. We've had more than our fair share of jam this season.

3 away wins - West Ham, West Brom and Blackburn strike me as games which we were fortunate to win, certainly be the margins we did win by. Obviously we've had bad luck with injuries but then again, who decimated the squad.
