Lake Bells tits 1
I don't think it really works like that for us quite yet CT, it's not like "who will be play, we've got silva nasri, tevez a.johnson, balotelli... and then we've rodwell/toure and dejong for dm??" we've cover for one position thankfully, DM with tiote, abeid, bigi and cabaye if we're really pushed (perch as well), but no 2nd fullback to start and lack a centreback Strength in depth, not strength in one place. We have no proven backup CB`s aside from williamson ( who has the pace of a limp slug), and taylor will get injured sometime this fall - clockwork certainty. In midfield we have Tiote and Cabaye, bigi abeid perch are not blooded or good enough for that position from a top-6 point of view. We are a fullback and a winger away from having a squad that is no worse than Tottenham and Arsenal in my opinion, well first XI anyway. I love Jonas but once simpson is shipped off he is the next sore thumb. A lot of industry but offers too little going forward. Lake Bells tits 1
Look at the movement prior to the goal on the first clip of Vurnon. Easy to see where the Seedorf-comparisons come from. Very similar movement and posture to Il Professore
2bias 3
What would people's thoughts be on fielding the younger players in the FA and league cup? I think it depends on where we are in the league after ten games. I think we can get away with fielding some younger guys in the Europa League second leg depending on how the away leg goes. sandman02uk 0
be interesting to see where he fits in, he was played for the whole of 2010 at leftback, but as a DM last season, i see nothing that shows him as a centre mid player Edited August 13, 2012 by sandman02uk

Lake Bells tits 1
He should take cabayes old position, allowing him more of a gerrard role further up the pitch. Debauchy Colo Douglas Santon ------- Tiote Anita ----------------------- Cabaye HBA -------- Cisse Ba Are you the gardening flouncer? Two of those play for another club, and 5 of those youve listed who do play for NUFC are doubtful for Saturday. Apart from that, you appear to be the new Arrigo Sacchi, well done

David Kelly 1217
There's nothing to suggest that Anita is anything other than defensively minded - do you think it would be necessary to play both him and Tiote in a midfield three? Especially when Cabaye doesn't shy away from defensive responsibility. I don't see Ashley bankrolling a significant amount of money to bring a player in who isn't in the first team - so either his arrival spells the end of Tiote /PaddockLad or he'll be deployed in a fullback position. The alternate to those is a reshuffle of the entire team around him, which I would think makes very little sense after the successful season that we've had. Having said that fullback and defensive mid is an odd-pairing of positions to specialise in. Given we don't know a lot about him maybe he fancies himself as a wide midfielder? If that were tha case his potential signing would make a lot more sense, particularly if we can somehow offload Obertan. If he is here to add some depth then it'd be great, but something like that is so far not in Ashley modus operandi. Just going off what I've read about him on Ajax forums but it seems he's said before himself that he doesn't see himself as a leftback and their fans didn't rate him there. And these latest quotes about wanting to speak to us to find out about how he would play suggest to me that he'll only come if we see him playing in midfield. It also seems to me that while he is seen as a defensive midfielder over there, he's very different from the way Tiote plays. He seems to be more of a passer than a destroyer but someone who plays from deep. There might very well be some milegage in playing alongside Tiote and Cabaye giving us a very solid centre of the park but also one that can knock the ball about very nicely. I agree that Ashley's only gonna allow us to spend such an amount on a first team player so we're going to have to fit him in somewhere. To me the options are; Three man centre of the park alongside Tiote and Cabaye. This means Jonas is the odd man out and we still have the problem of how to use Ba. A diamond in the centre with Tiote at the bottom, Anita and Cabaye in the middle and HBA at the top. I'm not sure we will be able to get the best out of Ben Arfa in such a role given that he's never really managed to perform for us anywhere but attacking right side (albeit with the licence to roam a bit). We would also need a lot of width from the fullback positions and I don't for a second believe Simpson is capable of that. Debuchy would allow this or the other option could be to move Santon to the right and play Jonas on the left? Play him leftback which is something he doesn't seem at all keen on. Rotate the players. I'm not sure we're big enough to keep them all happy like this at the moment. A replacement for Tiote. I hope it's not the latter and tbh I don't think it will be this summer. Might well be next though.
Kid Dynamite 6961
I wouldnt discount Pards trying Tiote and Anita in front of the back 4 in a 4231 Would allow Cisse and Ba more freedom up front too

2bias 3
Guiseppe Rossi's agent has claimed he doesn't want to play in the second tier and available. Would be a good signing for us, didn't get much opportunity when he was with us on loan but has looked good the last few seasons. Just seen he is out injured and will be for awhile but still worth a go surely. Edited August 13, 2012 by 2bias

Monroe Transfer 0
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2012/08/13/newcastle-stars-restless-at-slow-transfer-progress-72703-31611284/2/ First-team cover is also a concern and the Magpies have also to get through a week of international fixtures hoping their troops return home unscathed. Anita has been one of the main targets this summer and certain figures in the Newcastle camp have also been pushing for the Debuchy deal to be resurrected, with Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel – who scored yesterday against AZ – also still in the reckoning. There was talk of a Premier League side touching base with Loic Remy over the weekend but, while the Magpies did make an enquiry about the Frenchman this summer, he has not been mentioned in the last week as United focus on other targets. United boss Pardew told the Chronicle: “The feelings I have given to the board and to Derek (Llambias) and Lee (Charnley), who do the deals, is that we really need to try to get somebody if we can. “If we can we can, if we cannot we cannot. “They will do their utmost like they have all summer to get somebody over the line.” However, with the English transfer market not offering much value this summer, Pardew said: “People’s valuation and prices need a reality check and look at where the world is.”
Monroe Transfer 0
As always I'll worry about it most at the end of the window but yeah it's been immensely frustrating for all concerned: fans, players (hence the article), Pardew, 'Lee and Derek', the likes of Lille and Ajax, and also Debuchy in particular too.
