Happy Face 29
All fair points but didn't the likes of Man u and Arsenal get their business done early doors last season? Surely the longer it goes, the more chance any club is going to get screwed on price as with AC. MS Douglas (chronny) tweeting that there will be interesting news for NUFC fans tomorrow and that Pardew expects at least one in next week and none to leave. I'd be fucking over the moon if no one left. That said, if anyone did go you'd soon be saying what an excellent move it was for NUFC.

Christmas Tree 4821
D-day looms for Newcastle target Vurnon Anita NEWCASTLE UNITED will run the rule over Ajax star Vurnon Anita again tonight as the Dutch giants take on Chris Hughton’s Norwich City at Carrow Road. But Sunderland are breathing hard down the necks of the Magpies as they too pursue the versatile midfielder. The Chronicle understands that Anita is hungry to sign for United but as yet Newcastle are yet to bid the £7million fee that will get the wheels in motion on the deal. However, that fresh bid could be forthcoming if Anita impresses the Magpies tonight. The Newcastle hierarchy are staying cool despite growing fears from fans that the squad lacks depth ahead of a season of both the domestic and European action. It is still hoped that the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy will be confirmed this week. Plans are in place for the Lille star to make his way to Tyneside tomorrow, despite Inter Milan refusing to give up on the 26-year-old ace. Yet a double swoop for Anita and Debuchy would also help ease the fears of fans on Tyneside. The 23-year-old Anita – who can cover both full-back areas – was looked at again by Sunderland over the weekend. And the reports that were submitted back to Wearside are believed to be glowing. However, Anita is thought to favour a move to St James’ Park. Sources at Carrow Road say that a request for place for Newcastle on the directors’ box guest list for tonight’s game in East Anglia has been submitted. It is thought to be for a final check on Anita before the Magpies decide whether to up their bid. The acquisition of Anita for United would offer some ideal cover in the engine room for Alan Pardew, not to mention what he can offer in the two defensive slots either side of his back four. Meanwhile, the Chronicle can also reveal Newcastle have been offered Anita’s Ajax team-mate Gregory van der Wiel. The full-back’s contract is up at the end of the season and he is another that would favour a move to Tyneside. However, the right-back is likely to see his dream scuppered by the arrival of Debuchy. It is thought that Van der Wiel’s people are waiting to see the final outcome of Debuchy’s situation before deciding his next move. toonotl 3107
Not heard much about him but I don't watch much A League because its absolutely terrible quality. Almost conference level. Should be interesting to see how he goes. Obviously the club have seen something they like if they have signed him for 6 years.
2bias 3
Newcastle formally confirmed the signing of central defender Curtis Good on Tuesday afternoon from his hometown club, Melbourne Heart. The 19 year-old Australian youth international arrived on Tyneside last week and will link up with his colleagues at Darsley Park this week. Here's an article with some background that appeared recently on the Australian Goal! weekly website: Curtis Good has agreed terms on a £10,000-a-week six-year deal with English giant Newcastle United. And Melbourne Heart will receive a $A600,000-plus transfer fee for the teenage central defender. toonotl 3107
we must be rating him pretty highly to pay 2 million and pay him that much at 19 Exactly what I was just explaining to a completely uninterested missus. It's a big contract for someone that age. Compare that to Guthrie's apparent 5k p/ week wage and it seems they must see something in him.
