The amount of shit Obertan gets is laughable on here. He is still young and learning, He has never consistently played games like he has for us at the start season for Man U. He will come good.

Unfortunately for your arguement we are all equipped with eyes, and we can clearly see he is dogshit. If Ferguson cant make a player out of him, I doubt we can.

Giving him games havent helped, it has just made him worse.

It's quite exciting to think how well this team can do next season if we cam convince the likes of Tiote and Ba to stay.

Surely given the above we would hope to challenge for the Champions League.

Think we should try and pull out all the stops to get Guthrie and Simpson tied down.

Im not even gonna bother arguing with you about simpson, you are clearly WUM`ing it up.

Guthrie has a part to play but he is hardly pivotal to our team. A typical "nice to have" player - a bit like benayoun albeit not as good.

This bumming of Carr is really quite funny. He's managed to find a couple of players no one has heard of in the past two seasons (one of them being the captain of the current French champions and a current French international so he hardly plucked him out of obscurity) and suddenly he can do no wrong. Any good player we sign is down to him and anyone who doesn't make the grade he had nothing to do with. It's nearly as bad as the bin dippers claiming Dogshit had nothing to do with signing AC now that he's struggling.

Let's see if he can consistently produce the goods season after season before hailing him as our saviour eh?

Give over

Simpson is our only ever present all season and has cleared 6 or 7 balls off the line.

You are a mug if you think it's not worth hanging on to a player like that.

Carr had nothing to do with the signing of Ba, so that doesn't really work.

absolutely correct. How come such a genius has remained undiscovered for decades, and failed as a manager earlier in his career ? I liken this bumming to that of the knee jerk reactions to results this season in spite of the limited ambitions of the club.

When Graham Carr has a scouting record anywhere near that of people like Peter Taylor, Bill Shankly or Kevin Keegan then people can kiss his arse to such levels.

Because Carr scouts the continent.. Refer to your map Leazes, it's the place where you've scribbled 'here be arabs'. You sad miserable aspergers riddled old git.

Fish will pick you up for that, he frowns on people making quotes that others don't actually say.

That's my point. We all know he wasn't involved in that deal but we still managed to sign a quality player. I'm sure equally we'll sign a failure or two on his recommendation.

Fwiw I think he's doing a very good job so far but the overreaction is ridiculous. The way some people are on here, Carr could recommend Kris Boyd to us and they'd be all "well he knows more than us like so I have every faith he's going to come in and score bucket loads"!

FWIW here is his managerial record , presumably he signed lots of quality players hence such fantastic achievements. I'm not knocking the bloke, he's found some good players, but we can all do that. As DK says, its far too early to proclaim him as a genius who can do no wrong, and the funniest thing is the insinuation that all the good signings are his, and the crap ones aren't

At the end of the day, he scouted people like Tiote, a player who didn't even play every week for Twente, knowing he'd be a success here. Bosmans are Bosmans, but tell me an example of a £3m purchase who within two years is arguably one of the best three players in his position in English football. His market value is £25m. For that purchase alone he deserves immense praise. Why did no cunt else sign him. Why did no cunt else do their homework and find out that the captain of the French champions had a £4m release clause. There's no one he's recommended who has flopped, the guy revealed yesterday he's watched three games a weekend in France, Holland and Germany over many years, following Cisse for example from the moment he joined Metz in 2007. There'll be players we don't even know about who he's got his eye on right now. I'm sure Marveaux will come good, I'll bet anyone now he plays for France, but overall I see absolutely not one reason we shouldn't be lavishing praise on him. Contrast that with 7 or 8 years ago, when it seemed our chief fucking scouts were Willie McKay and Paul Stretford.

'I contacted Sir Alex about him early at the start of the summer to see if there was an opportunity to bring him to Newcastle, but it wasn’t until Wayne Routledge joined Swansea that we were able to bring him in

It's not an insinuation, there's quotes to back up who he have been his signings and who have been Pardew's signings.

Of course he will. However it makes a refreshing change to have confidence in our recruitment policy again.

What makes you think I've a problem with Carr, Jonny ? I don't care who spots good players for the club, and Carr deserves praise as Stevie has said, but as I said its a bit early yet, in view of his unremarkable past, to put him in the Peter Taylor or Bill Shankly just yet.

I also think its premature to think that he is so good that the club can continue to sell its best players and rely on him to find these players, which I think is what people are thinking will happen, but thats another story.

Because we have no other bodies at right-back, thats why.

Aside from the fact that he has been told to stand in the goal in case any balls come in that direction, how many off the line saves

have been due to him reversing like a lorry into a tesco whenever pressure has been applied at that flank?

He cant play fotball, liability. I dont even want him on the bench, if we can get 5 mill for him from villa or stoke, and re-invest in a european hot-shot, that would be good.

Get rid of Simpson, put Santon right-back and buy a left-back would be my preferred option.

Why on earth would we get rid of a player who has done so well for us this season. Great as a squad player if we can get in a better right back, but so far Santon hasn't convinced Pardew he's better and may require a bit more time as the versatile understudy.

I don't know why people want to get rid of anybody who isn't dogshit, when we are trying to progress and may be in europe next year with extra games and what is at the moment clearly a thin squad. Simpson isn't great and there is better but he isn't dogshit either, and left back is a far bigger priority having not replaced Enrique. Lesson to be learned there perhaps.

Some players are surplus to requirements, but not Simpson.

Simpson panics too often for me. I'd say he's the best player in the world at goal line clearances, but if we're going to keep progressing we have to look at Tottenham and say honestly would he get in their squad? I don't think he would.

He's a weak link in the starting XI as far as I'm concerned. He panics every time he gets the ball and gets beaten far too easily up against a half-decent winger with pace. Plus I don't think he sees himself as a squad player, certainly judging by some of the comments he's made in the past anyway. Also Santon hasn't had a chance at right-back so you can't say he hasn't convinced Pardew he's better than Simpson.

Apart from Simpson's clearances off the line what do you think his stand out attributes are?

The club are also making big noises about Tavernier, so maybe he will have a role to play next season?
