Tino asprilla 0
I can't understand why Ben Arfa wasn't brought on for R.Taylor, Obertan was shocking as always. Aside from the injuries, the complete lack of interest in Ben Arfa from Pardew worries me. What is it with blind Ben Arfa fanboys like this guy ^? Not only did Obertan do alright - when he didn't have a lot of time to think about what to do with the ball, which is generally when he messes up - he also put in a shift that I don't think Ben Arfa would have. He did well defensively, he was an outlet, and he's got more pace about him than Ben Arfa. We didn't need 3 central offensive players, we needed the width Obertan provided. Tactically it made sense and that's no slight on Ben Arfa. Exactly why do the fanboys think they know more about the players and the sport than the manager that currently has us in joint fourth place? Ben Arfa has started a fair amount recently, and had a very mixed impact on the games. To say Pardew is showing him "a complete lack of interest" is just beyond belief. The season has a while to go, he'll be used and he'll do alright. I don't see why the fanboys panic so much when he doesn't play. agreed. good post
Kid Dynamite 7182
Shanked it? In what way? I'm genuinely dumbfounded by that statement. Watch the replay to be undumbfounded. He went for the volley and it came off the outside of his boot and was rising at a rate of knots

Gemmill 46088
" I don't see why the fanboys panic so much when he doesn't play." Cos they think we're in a race against time to keep him at the club. i.e. if he's not used extensively between now and the end of the season, he'll leave. Which he might do, but that's not a reason to play him.
Kid Dynamite 7182
For a team like Villa who play on the break and have Keane, NZogbia, Ireland and Bent looking to hit us at every opportunity, Ben Arfa is not the man to be trying to dribble past 4 players before falling over. It's like being on N-O on here sometimes
Gemmill 46088
Might get some post-match interviews from our match on Sky now that it's half time, if anyone fancies it. Can't remember if they usually do it now or at full time.

It didnt deviate from its path one inch, so thats why i questioned it. Saw the replays obviously, so will have to look at it again as i doubt you'd say that without reason. It would be spinning and curving if he sliced it surely? The fact that it was rising and going at speed suggests he hit it sweetly, no?

Guest CabayeAye
Not that any of you give a toss, but that was a good game of the neutral. Pleased for Cisse. Hope he's quiet next week though! Ayatollah Hermione 14069
Dont know if you could notice on the telly but Cisse's movement and off the ball play was excellent today. Thought everyone had solid games. Simpson was suspect first half and Guthrie seemed to want 20 seconds on the ball every time he had it but we grafted it out. Get in. guttierrors 0
The midfield seemed invisible in the first half, wont lay blame on a player but they stuck at it and 2 good goals, do we go fifth if chelsea win?

CleeToonFan 1
Obertan scores a goal one game and doesnt play ABSOLUTE shite the next and people think hes warranted a place in our lineup? I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

I don't understand why some people can't comprehend that Ben Arfa and Obertan aren't interchangeable as players or as tactical ploys.

Fully agree mate, pretty sure the TV wouldnt have shown it the same. Every goal kick/throw in/time the fullbacks got possession/midfield got possession (basically constantly throughout game,) he made a good movement and was calling for the ball. I was seriously impressed by how much the guy wanted the early ball and was prepared to run 20 yards to give himself the chance to receive it. A couple of freekicks that Ba won, he waited for someone to put ball down, and immediately ran a channel in the hope of getting the ball and being one on one. Not jizzing in me kegs yet, but i was SERIOUSLY impressed with the kid, showed an awesome 1st touch all game and his goal was a great strike (nearly did same thing again as well,) plus he was brave and prepared to get amongst it. AND QUICK!!

Fully agree mate, i personally think Ben Arfa has more skill, BUT in his last two games he has given the ball away so cheaply by trying to dribble all the time. Surely if you mix one/two touch football with your dribbling and mix it up you will create more space to dribble it?? I'd like to see Ben Arfa play one/two touch football for the first 20 mins of a game and go from there.

Brilliant for cisse to score and his movement was good all game. And cheers alex for taking off your most threatening player and replacing him with Heskey. Good job!
