Flair 0
Don't you find it so cruel that you can go through life and it always seems to benefit a small few? No matter what you do, how hard you work, it's always out of your hands. Dependent on others, whether it be your employer relieving you of your duties, your application to university/job being dependent on an admissions tutor or such-like who doesn't have the slightest inkling about you. Some may point towards an interview, yeah ten minutes is really going to assess someone.... It's strange, going by my own experiences, I always tend to have the worst luck. Most of the time, I look back and don't think such has happened because of a lack of effort but because there's that cyclical luck factor which dictates your life from start to finish. Everything that happens good/bad is chance, you can manipulate the luck factor by maybe a negligible amount, 10%? Beyond that, there is not much you can do. Just thought I put this up for debate. Do you agree or disagree? If so, why? As we move forward, are there any solutions to this predicament, somehow bringing upon a fairer society? I am not talking about politics, economics, etc. Ultimately, even these clowns have taken upon a job that is significantly beyond the remit of their power. All they can do to gain any credibility is instead of feeding false promises, they come out and just say the fucking truth. They would certainly gain my acknowledgement, honesty the great expression of character. There is a significant psychological/moral problem that we need to address and it is has to come at lower-levels, not at superficial ones. What I am saying is that there possibly is a solution to all our problems. We need to change the way people think, not brainwash them but call me crazy, we need to reprogram ourselves in such a way that most of these worries will cease to exist. Now, this has to be done by every single individual and one man/woman on his/her own can't do anything. We need an united voice but at the same time, we need to regain the individuality that makes each and one of us so great. How this will happen? I do not know. Will I look for the solution? Most definitely. Discuss. Edited January 27, 2012 by Flair

The Fish 10876
Not having a go at all Flair, but I honestly believe it's ones own perspective and mindset that dictates whether you feel lucky or unlucky. I really believe I'm fortunate in life, many incidents have seemed like a bad twist of fate at the time, but pretty soon I find it all works out. I didn't get into the Uni that I wanted to and was gutted, then I went to Leeds and met some genuinely outstanding people who became very good friends, I found a love of stand-up (watching and facilitating, not performing before anyone starts that old shit) and without meaning to sound like a pretentioius prick, I really came into myself. You sound like you're pissed off at the minute, but I'd talk to real friends instead of internet idiots.

luckyluke 2
You're in 'the few', of you're able to complain about the university you didn't get into on the Internet, not a possibility for millions in Africa, North Korea, or even thousands of young people in the UK to an extent. Feels a bit churlish to point that out like, but that's classic 6th former articulately moaning about their lot in ignorance of the bigger picture. I'm sure I was the same. You'll get over it. Nah, I am not moaning. I simply used university as an example. It is one of the many things in my life, including illness which I have been unlucky about. The amount of time I have spent going to the hospital in the last three years has been ridiculous and it is not because of one illness either. Enough of that, I am talking about the bigger picture. Also just like to point out, sure you point to first-world problems but problems are only relative to the person. Ofcourse, living in Britain, I am never going to experience hunger, etc. That doesn't necessarilly mean that people's issues in this country are any less relevant. As I say, life is inherently unfair but there must be a solution. Think of how much humanity has progressed since the dawn of time. I would be a fool not to say it is far-fetched, but I certainly think there is a solution. Edited January 27, 2012 by Flair

Park Life 71
A lot of this stuff is to do with self-image (how we see ourselves). Personally my feeling is that this is always changing and therefore I conclude that the thing which I think I am isn't real. If it isn't really real then I choose not to worry about it as it's just a result of my flawed perception (of things)...Which also may not be real...So, in short why worry? Cause you're at the end of the day worrying about things that might not actually exist outside of your own very weak perception of reality (whatever that is). NB My advice is dangerous if you're mentally susceptible. Edited January 27, 2012 by Park Life
Flair 0
I have thought of what you say as well. What if the world is just thrust upon us in its current form? As in, what if the world came into being as we know it just now? Apparently, this notion is more likely than the highly ordered system of the planet in its early days that we normally imagine it to be. Although off-topic, perhaps it bears significance if it indeed is the case to why the world isn't so ordered as it should be? Order isn't the way of the universe, infact the opposite is true wherever we look. This shoudn't be unsettling once you accept the mind is the only thing that creates order. Untill quantum physics came along we used to think that we saw order in nature, but we now know that nature is chaos. Man can only be happy on this planet if he convinces himself that behind it all there is meaning, whereas the more we find out the more we realise there is no meaning...To any of it... It's why religion was promoted so heavily and taken up so eagerly, cause on those dark hopeless- never ending nights of doubt and fear there was something to cling onto....Let it go..And let all the other things go...ALL OF THEM... Changing what people think is easy, it's called society and it started when they got us to move into cities from the countryside to work in factories and so on...That infact is the easiest thing...I personally believe that solutions are born of accidents or intuition (unquantifiable). Luck if you like. ha ha... Cats apparently are very lucky, it's why the Egyptians worshipped them after a fashion.... Flair 0
We have gone full circle then. It's that cyclical notion of luck that I was eluding to in my original post. If the solution itself occurs through chance, I wouldn't complain. It does seem appropriate and apt though for the solution to luck be luck itself. Gemmill 44996
The fish has it spot on. if you think you're unlucky, you'll be unlucky. It's all about your mindset. If you're always on the lookout for what next bad luck is gonna befall you, cos you're inherently unlucky, you'll find plenty of it. Sort your outlook out. Read some self help books or something. I'm not taking the piss either, cos the next 50 years ARE gonna be shit if you're actively expecting them to be. Expecting stuff to be shit, and blaming it on nameless, faceless others is even worse. The mind clings to it....I am aware of that. But being aware of that is the start. Some things I should impart... Starting a thread as you have is a kind of ritual...ritual is the cornerstone of magic. People on here with good intentions will point you toward more order ie sort yourself out' that kind of thing...But of course I know you've been trying that and have lost faith in it and you are right to do so...Order is mediocrity it is survival at its basest level....I'm sure it interests you even less than it interests me...What point going into a house that you have decorated and fawned over for years...The inside bores you..Of course...Cause you created it and you know all about it... Walk into a house that you have no idea what's inside. Magic is the key. YOu said something earlier about every moment being new...Of course that is completely right. What is gone is gone. Dr Gloom 21965
You only get one chance in life. Don't be the guy that is sat in retirement wondering about what might have been if he'd had more bottle. Don't blame it on not getting the rub of the green. Fucking get out there and do something. If you want it enough you will. That said, plenty of people are happy just existing. And theres not wrong with that. Each to their own. I'd just hate to regret not trying when it's too late.
