I've been thinking about this over the last week and for me, this is the one question we should be focussed on. We could finish 7th with a shit points total or 7th with a decent one, or even end of up 8th/9th but get over 50 points. I think a target of 57 would be excellent progress.

Am gan for 64, there's not one home game left other than Man City that we won't be favourites to win, trips to the likes of Blackburn, Swansea, Everton, Wigan etc... Am gann for 64 points and 6th place which would dee this season. Would be glorious to come above Dalglish, Carroll and Enrique.

56 I've gone with. I'd be disappointed at this stage if we get much less than that, probably lead me to having a good boo. Over 60 would be superb.

Ask me again Feb 1st.

Anything above 50 would be an excellent achievement. But after the start we've had, you never know. Hoping last month was our blip and we manage to get some results while Tiote and Ba are away. If we can do that and keep the likes of Colo fit, who knows? 60 points?

50 points would be a disaster imo. We've got 33 points nuw man. So what you're saying is if we average just under a point a game for the next 18 games we're doing well?? FFS W4 D5 L9 would get us 50 points man. Have a word with yourselves. The hardest games of the season have gone away in Manchester and Liverpool where we're always pish. If we don't get 60 I'll be disappointed. W9 D3 L6 would give us 60 man, and that wouldn't even be that good in my view.

Home games alone

QPR

Villa

Wolves

Sunderland

Norwich

Liverpool

Bolton

Man City

Stoke

If there's not 7 wins from them games alone something is wrong.

Just done an instinctive run though and came to another 28 so went 61.

Don't think we'll lose at home but will probably lose at Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea. a few draws chucked in.

It would have to be one of the worst capitulations in Premier League history to end up under 50 points.

Couple of snapshots from the table last season at this point and at the end...

Pos 6 Bolton Wanderers Pl20 W7 D 8 L5 Pts29

Pos 14 Bolton Wanderers PL38 W12 D10 L16 Pts46

Pos 6 Sunderland Pl21 W7 D9 L5 Pts30

Pos 10 Sunderland Pl38 W12 D11 L15 Pts47

We've got more points than either of those had after 20 games and they went on incredibly poor runs considering the starts they made (17 points from 18 & 17 games respectively), and we have better players than either, so I can't see us getting less than 50 points in even the worst case scenario.

I voted under 40 just to fuck it up in case HF was going to work out the average.

I have statistical models to account for outliers ;)

I've got several accounts to account for that ;)

Given that after 20 games we have 33 points you could argue the mean target would be 63 points more or less. While we had a strong start we did also have a barren run to average out somewhat. but then losing Ba and Tiote has to have an impact and despite all the talk Im not expecting much in way of signings. With that in mind, I'd drop us down a few points to maybe mid 50's.

So 55.
