scott mathie 0
I think first and foremost we must give credit to the gaffer. Alan Pardew's tactics were spot on, and what was most pleasing was that the players were able to execute it effectively. It was a great way to bounce back from a very poor performance against Liverpool. Besides the magnificent performance of Demba Ba, I think we need to give Shola Ameobi massive credit for the role he played today. I have always been fairly critical of the big lad, but i thought his physical presence today was immense. He has definitely spent some time in the gym this past off-season and over the last two seasons has begun to realise exactly what his strengths are. I'm pleased for the man, mainly because his ability is eventually starting to match his loyalty to the shirt. Cabaye was also a big positive this evening, not just for his stunning free-kick, but his ability to pick a pass as well as defend so bravely. In previous outings I have often felt he has not stamped his authority on the game (being an international player), but tonight he really showed us just how exciting his future at Newcastle can be. JawD 99
It might have not been the prettiest but I agree how effective it was with Shola and Ba. Caused them trouble all night like. As much as I have championed Ben Arfa to play behind Ba I think AP was right not to do it last night. Fantastic display all round.

Even Fergie begrudgingly gave them some credit for 'being a handful'.
wykikitoon 20798
When I saw Strola on the starting sheet I wasnt happy. He is soooo fucking frustrating its mental. He puts in a shift like that and when we play someone like Bolton or Blackburn he doesnt break sweat. If he grafts like he does like that week in week out we wouldnt all hate him! Christmas Tree 4851
I got that magic feeling too! Ben Arfa solves the right wing problem, Santons quality and Jonas's rises from the ashes looks like the left is sorted too! That can only mean chances being created and goals coming from literally anywhere. Teams now have to worry about who to mark and our predictable style of play may have gone. Hopefully we have done a Man U and got our wobble out of the way ready to storm on in the second half. You never want to get too excited with, especially during a window but bloody hell Pardew seems to be getting the best out of players all over the park, even my mate. I would love to see us break back in to the top six and really fight it out over the next few months. Massive credit to everyone at Newcastle, particularly the back room boys like JC and SS for once again giving us a team that I haven't felt so good about since the original Keegan days. One big happy family.

One big happy family. you weren't happier when we were playing in the CL under SBR? Different thing mate. This team, players and backroom etc has a very similar feel to how the club felt under Keegan ( excluding two exceptions). It's that feel good feel I'm on about. Also added to by the way this follows a long period of shitness as it did back then. I never thought I could get as excited again as those times, but this is getting close. Times under SBR were good, but the mindset of fans was one of expectation following keegans achievements.
