When we actually had to play a few decent teams.

That Arsenal lot are pretty shit to be fair.

Arsenal were in the middle of a crisis with Nasri leaving as well as the void from fabregas causing panic.

They conceded 4 goals to and lost to blackburn ffs, and had a string of games which made arsenal fans call for Wengers head and relegation talk.

We met them at the best possible time and only managed a draw at home.

Since then they have obviously gone on a win streak with Van Persie hitting form, but why am I reciting history to you. Are you living in a cave without internet and cable-tv?

The "waiting to get beat" starting elleven. Cant wait. I will be in the pub with a few mates and Aeris on bootycall fast-dial while downing a few newcastle Ales and abusing obertan from the couch.

Call her now. Seems like you need to get laid.

Coming from you thats rich.

Just had a call, and at this point in time, Ben Arfa doesn't start. Although was told the starting XI has not been finalised.

A call from who ffs?

Attention seeking 'ITKs' probably the most pathetic thing on the internet.

Fuck off man you massive bell end. Nice disclaimer too

I work closely with the marketing/media team at NUFC, you massive bell-end!

Steve Brenner is a big face in the media of NUFC, he's used me as inspiration of at least two of his pieces, so he talks to me regularly. What's your name because if what you say is true he'll know you. All you've said is Ben Arfa's not playing but it's not been decided. Waste of time post.

Why are you massively obsessed about beating the 'best' teams? Theres about 5 of them and they have pots of money we can't even dream of spending. Theres 14 or so 'other' teams it's far more important to get results against (ie about 3 times as many points to be won) and NUFC typically turn in absolutely gutless displays to lose to them even when we've been flashing the cash ourselves. That's where we've always largely been an 'also ran' club. Man U can lose to the top teams every season and still win the Prem more often than not simply because they always win the games they 'should' win. That's by far the better marker. This team was expected to be relegated not long back and now you're only happy to take any signs of progress from 3 points gained in a glamour fixture. Get a grip you Norwegian gimp. How long have you been watching the Toon? We've not even done badly against the 'top' teams ffs.

You mean teams such as Norwich, Swansea and WBA?

Yes, precisely and all the other ones we got points against. Do you not see my point?

We got ripped a new one by Man Utd. The result was extremely flattering. Unlike you Im not just blindly looking at results, I try analyzing the games to see where and how we can improve. 90 minutes of hoofing and a 0-1 win is not "a fantastic game by us", but I guess we disagree on that.

Also, Best and Obertan should be nowhere near the XI.

Im not looking at glamour fotball. We were promised carpet fotball and Im seeing Hoofing.

I am not expecting us to be Barca, but a little more offensive hubris and willingness to take chances would go a long way, even if it meant a few goals conceded.

The hoofing and defending from the front combined is what makes me moan. Even when we win. Not something I particulary enjoy watching. Seems like everybody has forgotten about the abysmal Bolton game when HBA decided to score yet another screamer when given the chance.

You're right, results don't really count for anything.

I am sure you will be congratulating Pardew and the players if we piss all over Liverpool tonight but they get a flukey 1-0 win because it's about the bigger picture really and the FA will take these things into account when handing over the points :)

How is it you can spell 'hubris' and not 'football'? We're not going to agree so fair play, I just think you're being massively unrealistic. We could attempt cavalier football and maybe that'd make you happier but we'd be in the relegation mire if we did I've little doubt about that. We dont have any money to compete and we never win anything anyway traditionally so perhaps I'm just happy with small signs of progress and building. I know that could all be wiped out in an instant, I'm not a simpleton, but it doesnt mean you shouldnt acknowledge it if it is in fact happening. Not in my book anyway.

Good results can be based on luck or they can be based on intelligent and adaptive managerial decions. I prefer the latter, because it means we are in all perspectives looking for the win either we get it or not. Pardew is all about "why change a winning team" , even if we have just won 8 out of 18 games...

Follow my logic for a moment then - With an argentinian international winger, a french international CM ( cabaye) who were bound for man utd, real madrid etc, Tiote which is pretty much the best DM in the league, and - ok obertan granted  - as well as Ben Arfa which is one of the biggest french talents of his generation - are you really of the opinion these players are not able to play flowing carpet fotball?

I think you are underestimating them in that case.

I think it has to do with what pardew tells them and the tactics we utilise. Fair enough if you disagree, thats what forums are for.

I appreciate the more friendly tone though, invites further debate rather than flinging poo.

Mugs like you should talk about your national sport, eating reindeer or something, rather than talking pish about an English sport. Newcastle MORE than held their own at Old Trafford till we went down to 10 men. Any team on earth would be "under the kosh" with ten men there you fucking nob.

As MancMag said you are a gimp, I thought that after seeing 4 of your posts.

Put it another way, I think we've got one outstanding defender and three sub-standard defenders. When it's Taylor I think it's only one outstanding defender and a par defender. I'm under no illusion about the fact that a solid defence is the absolute foundation of any competitive side and I think Pardew appreciates that too. I think he's got a midfield thats set up to help protect it's defence principally and just press the opposition as relentlessly as possible. B Arfa definitely won't do that. That doesnt mean there shouldnt be a role for him, there should, but I don't know you 'build a team around him' right now. He will get more game time anyway due to other absences so it'll come. For me Pardew knows he needs to strengthen his defence. I hope Santon becomes great for us, I'm gutted Enrique fucked off, but whatever happens I think defence will be the focus and probably rightly so. When you've got better defenders you can attempt to play more flowing attacking football, but he'll do it in that order.

Ok fair enough, but i think a valid question is whether our defense is good enough to - as you put it - "build a team around it".

Having absolutely brilliant players from the midfield drop deep in order to defend frankly average defenders can be seen as dragging the team down a bit and inviting play in our half. Dunno - it just seems a bit fanatical at the expense of our offense.
