Food Poisoning

The Missus, and my 3 y.o. girl and myself are just getting over it. Started Monday night with the missus, I got it Tuesday night, the little one got it Wednesday day sometime. The three of us were all hospitalised. Having a week old baby made things even more difficult. But I can safely say it is the sickest I have been in my life. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Absolutely fucking horrible shit.

Think that some silverside from the deli at the supermarket was the culprit. Hospital seemed to have no interest in discovering exactly what the bug was that infected us. Just kept pumping us with anti-nausea meds. Spoke to my father, who used to work with germs in the lab for the meat industry and found the hospital's approach very unusual. Its free healthcare so I'm not expecting miracles, but surely a more proactive approach would be beneficial, especially when it comes to germs. Dad said that a hospital in New Zealand, at least in the past, would actually have gone out of their way to determine what the bug was even if it wasn't immediately obvious. I'm guessing due to the dangers associated with different strains and mutation rates etc of certain contaminants.

Anyway, getting over it now. Guts feels like shit. Any lads on here had food poisoning? Its fucked. You don't wanna get it.

I had it on a holiday a few years ago. Like on the second day of being there. Lasted till the day before I left.

So yeah, ruined that.

Couple of years later I had a severe ear infection that pretty much kept me bed-ridden for 3-4 days of a week's holiday away.

I rarely go on holidays any more.

Shit that really really sucks. Lesson learnt I guess. ;)

So far I have managed to down 3 bites of some tinned peaches, a coffee, and a few salt & vinegar chips. And a few cups of Chicken & Noodle soup. Good stuff. Hoping things pickup and quickly.

At this point I'm just hoping I can stomach a few beers and maybe a nibble on some xmas lunch tomorrow. At least some drinks and the food breaks up the monotony of sharing company with extended family. Xmas without the food is like some sort of sick joke.

Spent the entire 2010 World Cup on a bog with slime dribbling out my arse after eating a chinese takeaway in Redruth.

Guts felt like I'd been chugging bleach, really horrible and made worse by the vuvuzelas and watching us get humped by the Germans.
