Sonatine 11332
Hankie Krankie panky Fan-Dabi-Dozi couple's flings We've been naughty ... Ian and Janette Tough, dressed as The Krankies By RICHARD WHITE, Chief Showbiz Reporter Published: Today at 00:04 THE showbiz world was reeling last night after kids' favourites The Krankies revealed they used to be secret swingers. Panto veterans Ian and Janette Tough, both 64, confessed they each had a string of lovers in their '70s and '80s heyday and shared an "anywhere, anytime" attitude to sex. Janette, best known for dressing up as schoolboy Wee Jimmy Krankie, said she enjoyed nothing better than slipping out of her blazer and tie for some open-air hanky panky. And Ian, who played Jimmy's dad, liked a few beers and a punch-up — once decking pint-sized performer Paul Daniels during a row. The pair, famous for their catchphrase "Fan-Dabi-Dozi", told yesterday how they once got carried away during a trip to the seaside. Janette said: "We went out for Sunday lunch one day and got a bit romantic out at sea. "We nearly ended up in France. I couldn't make it last that long now." Oh yes we did ... The Krankies in panto gear with John BarrowmanPacificCoastNews.com Ian told how the couple had also romped on golf courses across Britain. He recalled: "Jersey was good." The Krankies admit to having flings with dancers, magicians' assistants — and even a circus leopard tamer. Ian said: "It was never involved, lovey-dovey stuff with the others. "It was just these incredible parties that would get out of hand. "Janette might ask, 'Where's Ian?' and they'd happily tell her I was in the room next door with a dancer with my trousers around my ankles." Janette, who wed Ian in 1969, said: "We always ended up back in our own hotel suite or in the house together at the end of the night. "There was never anything very serious. But it's fair to say The Krankies were not as pure as the driven snow." In fact, the couple's wild lifestyle put real rockers to shame — as they proved when they trashed Status Quo's bus. Ian said: "Status Quo lent us their coach once. "When we gave it back they said, 'Blinkin' heck, it's worse than if we'd lent it to a rock show. And this was for a kids' show.' But we were party people. We were in our 30s when we got fame and went a bit berserk. "We didn't get into drugs but we were wild." Ian — currently appearing with Janette and John Barrowman in Robinson Crusoe at Glasgow's Clyde Auditorium — admitted his wildness could sometimes turn violent. He added: "I was a bit punchy. I punched Paul Daniels — but that's not really a bad thing is it? I think he contradicted something I was saying. "I'd likely had a drink and I just went, bang! He fell off his chair. "The whole bar applauded and said, 'It's time somebody did that.' "Paul's matured like me. He knows he was a bore in those days." Ian also used to enjoy streaking. He said: "I used to run round housing estates with nothing on for a bet." The couple eventually put an end to their wild lifestyle. Janette said: "Showbiz is a notorious graveyard for marriages and people are always curious about how we managed to stick together since 1969. "The truth is we've always been together as a married couple. But it didn't stop us having fun with other people." The Krankies were regulars on kids' TV show Crackerjack in the '80s. They later had their own shows The Krankies Klub and The Krankies Elektronik Komik.
