Dolly Potter MD 0
"This is how Pardew's trying to win the ego battle though, sending him on in impossible situations like at Anfield when you've had the team playing like frightened kittens for an hour, starting him against the three best sides in the land then leaving him out against Norwich, Swansea and West Brom because he's "not fit". Bet him scoring at Bolton proper ruined Pardew's Christmas." If this is the case, which is certainly a possibility as he fills that 'moody, flawed genius' mould. He's a certainly a player who is going rub particular managers (those who can't man-manage them, are unwilling to compromise) up the wrong way. If there is a battle of egos going on anything positive he produces on the pitch will be done out of spite, against the manager. If he's getting similar minutes during the ANC, while playing second fiddle to crap, you can put this down as 'Souness v Robert, Version 2' with different cast members obviously. Lake Bells tits 1
Alan likes direct play and crosses, with just about the worst wingers in the league for that sort of duty. Ah well, lets see how it pans out.

Dolly Potter MD 0
Food for thought, relating to the final stages of his reign at West Ham prior to his sacking. Harewood, Zamora and Cole were his first choice three, as forward options, while the temperamental & creative (but world class all the same) Tevez was rotting away on the bench. The point is former three were struggling, and the team was screaming out for creativity/a spark, amidst a relegation fight but Pardew continued to stick to his guns while results continued to slide southwards. It would appear that Pards has a leaning towards grafters, those who carry little risk factor (those who won't try the outrageous, but offer more in the way of physical presence defensively) in the final 1/3. You can coach a rigid, defensively orientated gameplan around these type of players, where the mercurial types like HBA/Robert/Ginola will stray from the script, hence the risk factor involved in playing the likes of the latter three mentioned, even Tevez. But courageous managers weigh up the pros & cons (ie. HBA's cons are nigh on identical to Robert & Ginola) involved, without picking apart the negatives and basing their selection criteria accordingly. I'm of the growing opinion that Pardew is another Souness, who sadly is incapable of handling & man-managing these type of flair players, that do carry that enigmatic/unpredictable streak that makes them impossibe to coach against, and in the case of their handlers (who have no room for compromise) impossible to manage. If there's no way out of the dog-house for HBA (based purely on the negatives/baggage he brings to the table) we may as loan him out now, or sell him in January. Giving a positive critique about the opposition's style of play, in particular - when refering to an obvious difference in football playing philosophies, is going to sting one ego a fair bit. The clock is now ticking. Edited January 4, 2012 by Dolly Potter MD
The Fish 10855
How much of the Tevez fiasco was down to Pardew though? I was always under the impression that it was such a monumental fuck up that if he had played him there'd have been investigations by the FA, mutiny from the other players and all that crap. I think if Tevez had been a West Ham player fair and square Pardew would have played him. I don't think Pardew is holding Ben Arfa on the bench because of anything more sinister than wanting round pegs in round holes. Honestly? I think Obertan is a gamble that didn't pay off and I think Pardew et al were expecting to go through this season with Barton playing that wide role. Krul Simpson/Santon Taylor Colo LB? Barton Cabaye Tiote Jonas Ba Maiga But failed medicals and Joey Barton's mouth put pay to that. I genuinely think Mike Ashley is comfortable having a single player within the crosshairs and if, for whatever reason the deal doesn't happen, he's happy enough waiting it out. ewerk 30569
Wasn't Tevez just a bit shite in a shite West Ham team under Pardew?
Lake Bells tits 1
IMO there's an obvious pattern here, irrespective of whether these players being dropped improved the team or not in the short term (in the long term it didn't). I.e. that shit managers who focus too much on the defense will drop a quality but unpredictable flair player because it's the easy thing to do, especially as soon as there's a slight dip in form. They aren't concerned with what these players bring to the team, only what they don't bring. Hence, that's what makes them s*** managers, unlike the good managers who'll take the risk (and the bad along with the good) because they have the balls and the courage as managers to do so. Pardew falls into the "shit" camp for me atm because he did the exact same thing with Tevez that he's seemingly doing with Ben Arfa. West Ham fans (much like ours) were regularly calling for Tevez to be played because Zamora/Harewood/Cole were all s*** and had them struggling badly. After Pardew was sacked for being a twat, Curbishley came in and did what the fans wanted, and whadayaknow? They immediately had one of the best playmaking forwards in the league playing for them, instead of the Championship standard stodge Pardew had put his faith in. If Pardew was smart enough he'd learn from that absolute and undeniable mistake, a mistake that would have had his team relegated and a world class star player wasting away for no reason on the bench (had he not been sacked), and apply it here with Ben Arfa. If he does, then good on him - if he doesn't then it'll only highlight why he had to resort to being a desperate, recently unemployed League One manager whoring himself in Casinos as a footballing fuck-buddy for footballing philistines like Ashley and Llambias. Christmas Tree 4725
Blame Pardew all you like, but for me the bottom line is the majority of time I've seen HBA play this season he has been very very average.

Lake Bells tits 1
Physically he is fit. He has not played games, hence he is not "match fit". Because pardew is not playing him. Maybe I should have echoed pardew and called it "not up to his best". That will only come with games. He needs to play. He has scored more and set up more assists in his 1 hour on the pitch this season, than Obertan has in 1700 minutes of play. Oh well. Didn't you hear him yelling at our players to 'hit Ba' and 'get it forward' against Liverpool, every time we were in possession. That was confirmation enough for me like, since Norwich the bloke has completely and utterly s*** his pants. It seems Steven Taylor was the key to us playing football? Interesting HBA mentions the club matching his ambitions, bye bye. He will be off in the january window or summer anyway. The Clairfountain philosophy of pass and move does not suit us at all. That's all in the past though Ant. Torres used to be great but now isn't. HBA has started games and had a lot more than just the odd 10 minutes and unfortunately has not shown anything that resembles a player we should be building a team around. I think as we've also covered many times, it's unlikely he will ever "work" in a team that has such poor footballers around him. He'd probably look good in an Arsenal team but let's not kid ourselves that we are a pass and move team or have the personell to play that way. To be fair/accurate.... He's never got less than 16 minutes in any game he's appeared in. He's played in 10 games (out of 14) and had an average of just under 40 minutes in each. Mythmaking to suggest he's being used as sparingly as Sammy the 5 minute man.
Happy Face 29
oh right i'll rephrase then, 40minutes here and there in 14games since 2010, aye he's really getting a chance to get back to consistent form, which some players need. No, I mean he's played 10 games out of the last 14 NUFC have played, in 3 months.
