Putting me tin hat on, I thought Perch had a decent second half.

He had little or nowt to do till they scored and the defence looked like Jordan's minge. He gives no one any confidence around him, he's too small, too light, and there's 4 goals going past Krul if he plays centre half against Norwich and Swansea. Predicted all this in September.

Stevie were you watching the same game as me? Perch lost out in the air to Drogba which is no disgrace for a CB never mind a RB who's hardly played all year. Cabaye fucked up first anyway. Regardless of that one mistake we lost 3-0 and Ryan Taylor was absolutely murdered down the left wing. I expected the Perch backlash from the #NUFC mongs on Twitter but not you.

The wisdom in this thread and the ben arfa thread man!

Ben arfa on the wing

Tiote at cb

Perch lost us the game

Don't worry about defending if your losing

Ben arfa is the most likely player to contribute to a goal, except he hasn't yet.

Tiote would dee a job at centre back imo. I predicted all of this on Steve Wraith's show 0:59 onwards here http://itunes.apple....ith/id330790262 26/9/11 that this would all happen, and it was squarely down to Ashley being a prick. I even made the point at some point we'd have to rely on Perch and this isn't acceptable. It's a disaster and what makes it worse is, we'd have picked up points on Saturday had it not been Drogba v Perch. More than ever this fat bastard has pissed me off, does he not fuckin understand football? Any decent centre half would have done as back up, Perch is League One standard, and this has been like a car crash waiting to happen for ages.

Or red v yellow, or Cabaye v Mata.

Perch did OK apart from the goal, Cabaye gets a free pass, when equally culpable (for losing Mata) because he's Cabaye.

tiote at centre half ffs    I can't believe people have spent a couple of pages actually discussing that most ridiculous of possibilities. If you need to be told the differences between a holding midfielder and a central defender and the differences in their jobs on the football pitch, you're beyond help. It'll be Perch and Simpson at the back and so it should be. Kadar hasn't played any first team football since the Championship and is probably fucking shit if we're being realistic and Williamson isn't fit. Perch has been fine even if he should have been tighter to Drogba. Luckily, nobody that plays for NORWICH is as good as Drogba ffs.

and some people ask why I don't comment on these type of threads :icon_lol:

Anyway, I thought at half time the change was needed because the system of Lovenkrands and Ben Arfa wasn't working, Sturridge had far too much space and Ryan Taylor was moving too far forward, without Jonas to link with him and help him out as he does naturally.

So he switched back to 4-4-2 from the 4-3-3 that had been employed, and was the right change.

Shame that Shola was the player who had to come on mind, but the system change was the right one.

On another day, we could have had a point, we will play worse than that and win. And ought to have played against 10 men for most of the game too. I haven't seen any highlights, but thats how it all looked to me sitting in the Leazes End.

The first goal he ducks, he's already small enough, not even a challenge, the second and third goals defence all over the place again, and I agree Taylor was ridiculously exposed, three times Sturridge just went through like Taylor wasn't there, which he wasn't some of the time. Woeful situation to be in this though Simpson and fuckin Perch centre halfs for NUFC. All Ashley's doing.

The Journal is saying that we will decide this week whether we need to sign a new centreback in January. This needs to be fucking considered does it?

We've needed this all season so Taylors injury makes no difference whatsoever. If they're still questioning whether it's necessary they should all be shot!

We needed one in the summer the fucking idiots, they even admitted we did by bidding for Ridgewell, the reality is we need to sell Williamson and Perch and get two more in.

Shame with the timing of the injuries like as we've got some very winnable fixtures coming up. Suppose it might bring matters to a head now that some additions are absolutely essential rather than just 'desirable' (from the pov of those in charge that is).

Don't spose we're going to go broadcasting the fact we need one as the asking price will no doubt increase that way. Not that you can pretend to other clubs that we don't need one of course as it's plain as day, but the owner will happily take the view we're not having one and they can go fuck themselves asking for inflated fees, so I guess the club/Chron have to go with this line really.

Well all I ca say is thank fuck it's nearly January so we can sell Colo to fund a move for a replacement for Saylor.

We're absolutely fucked - lucky we had a phenomenal start because picking up points will start getting very difficult now with a severely depleted defence.

nah, Mike has a "plan".

According to people like Baggy, we are going to conquer the world and nothing can stop our glorious march forward. Except a few injuries. Oh dear.

FWIW, the team was always going to slide, but now it might be a bit further. On the bright side, it may delay the sale of Colocinni or Tiote until the summer.

For me it is a great ball and an outstanding header. Don't see either Coloccini or Taylor winning that.

Cabaye is most culpable for falling asleep from the the throw.

As for the last two goals, it's against 10 men and we're chasing the game.

He had a solid enough game. That doesn't make him good enough long term.

Agreed. Perch would need to have a superb run of performances to deflect from this one. If he does well then fair enough, that's what a squad CB is for and Pardew's squad depth rhetoric has some credibility, but clearly nobody's expecting that, in which case he needs to stop banging that drum.

Losing both CB's at once would test any team and I think we're going to hear that trotted out. It's true of course, but the point with us is that losing either one of the two potentially exposes us badly, so the fact we've lost both is just worse in our case, not a ready made excuse for having no answer to the problem.

Collo is only a strain might be back quicker than expected.

Can only hope so.

I do think he can raise a CB partners game btw as it only needs one 'reader' at the back, with a big lad being able to play a physical game off that. See Bramble when playing alongisde Woody. Saylor has definitely benefitted exponentially for me. Unfortunately neither Perch or Williamson are rivalling Gemmill for the Tyneside gym bunny of the year award. Williamson is actually a fairy of a man, Perch might have half a chance I spose. Fingers, toes, bollocks and eyes crossed.

Norwich away - we might get away with it.

We only need 14 more points for safety. If we get them by the end of January then whats the point of buying anyone? [/Mikesthoughts]

Has Colo played every game including 2 extra time cup matches?

Pardew was saying he's always at his to give the squad a day-off. I'm not surprised he's picking up niggling muscle injuries(his back last week).

Hopefully he's alright soon anyway.

Why was Perch at fault? Because he was beaten in the air by one of the best headers of a ball in the PL? Surely the player who left Mata unmarked at the throw-in was equally if not more culpable than him.

Perch was at fault because he allowed Drogba to have a free (unchallenged) header inside the six yard box.

..and in case you missed it, most of the players thought it was our throw-in. So you can forgive a midfielder trying to lose his man, only to be caught out of position.
