This Is England '88 Trailer

Watched the first 2 and a bit frustrated by how far apart the main characters have grown...while remaining as important for Meadows to give equal time to. It could be like the Wire and look at specific characters with others from previous incarnations popping up and dropping out in cameo's, but the story of Shaun is playing like an 80's episode of Skins totally unrelated. Woody and Lol haven't interracted either so far, but you can see they will, and have good reason to, even though Woody's middle class lifestyle is played for laughs a bit too much, they're a logiocal focus and, in Lol's story, more in keeping with the original tone. But if Shaun is dragged back into their lives I think it'll be a contrivance and I preferred to have his story finished with helping out Combo in '86, if not on the beach at the end of the original film.

Maybe I'll be proved wrong and it'll be a work of genius how his story works out here.

Still a cut above owt else on telly.

If this was anything like real life then the vast majority of young-ish skins in the late 70s/early 80s wouldve been wearing Fila,Sergio Taccini and Pringle by 1988. In saying that, I went to see The Specials in October and it was like going back in time 30-40 years. In a good way, it was a fuckin brilliant night :)
