These enforcers.

How would you rate them?

Anderson has had a couple of season with more appearances but doesn't really seem to have got any better. Lucas has a very good engine but seems a little light. De Jong is good but too neutral. I'd rather have Tiote right now.

Left Parker off the list but he's probably playing the best footie of his life right now.

Andersons not a proper enforcer imo, hes just a regular midfielder with no great strength either way for me

Lucas I think is a really good player now but has suffered from replacing Mascherano and Xabi Alonso all at once which I dont reckon anyone could do

De Jong is a very good stopper, shame hes such a cernt

Tiotes got his limitations but as long as hes used right, break up play than play simple and keep possession then hes class

Now Yaya Toure I really rate, best deeper sitting (ie not almost a forward like Silva) midfielder in the prem as it stands for me really really good all round

Spot on. Might as well lock the thread now.

Is he? I MO he's no better or worse than he was here. Just playing for a team that the media love for whatever reason.

Left Yaya off as he's been playing more as an advanced midfielder this season and deffo last with DeJong doing the water carrying.

Lucas's passing is atrocious.

exactly the same as Milner, hes no better a player than he was here, hes just been used slightly better by other teams and thats somehow seen him turn into an england regular and a 20odd million pound player

Anderson's not an enforcer.

He used to be quite creative and more of an attacking outlet. Looks like Taggart has coached that out of him though.

I agree but he's been the one who has been breaking up the play in the middle for them more often than not. Taggart is well on the way to destroying him aye. :)

I'd like to say Tiote will turn out to be the best of the bunch if he learns to play the simple pass more often. He seems to get caught in possession too often especially around our box trying to play his way out. I wouldn't say that this bunch is that good though and don't compare with past players.

Agreed and he's genuinely scary unlike Song and Lucas and the like.

all we need from Tiote is for him to win it then pop the ball off quickly to either Colo or Cabaye

if he can do that rather then the unneeded turns and not attempt any daft passes he'll be an utterly immense presence for us, even moreso than he has been already

That's pretty much what I said but by the time that happens he'll be plying his trade elsewhere. And, of course, he'll have been a raw talent when we sold him but the finished article six weeks later. Especially if he goes to the yids.

Tiote is a great destructive player and I agree if he cuts out the unnecessary risk he'll be immense.

re: Parker and Milner, are they getting the media praise because they're performing the same service, but they're providing it to a better standard of player who can better take advantage of it? All well and good Parker winning the ball, but when all he can do is pass to Emre....
