Pre-tax profits mebbies? Anyway, the point still remains. The figure Stevie reported about wages to turnover is correct too. It all went to shit when Gemmill got hold of the purse strings.

exactly. How the club made such massive progress in those 15 years, yet made annual losses of the magnitude claimed, is quite amazing tbh. Only an idiot could truly attempt to say that such a rise in the clubs fortunes was such a disaster as some of these OOT's and know-nowts make it out to be.

The operating profit is the turnover minus the outgoings over a financial year are you stupid? You've already made yourself look a cunt once, and now you're getting angry. It's in the genes.

Have you ever actually seen an income statement? Operating profit is only one part of it.

google taken a pounding right now, seething eyes and distorted faces looking on.

I don't need google to explain to me how a set of accounts look, I've been working with them for long enough now.

But we didn't make those profits. FFS. This is basic stuff.

Of course we made those profits (as a business). How we spent in them in terms of players etc.. is irrelevant the club made massive profits, you denied it, like you denied we were in the deloitte and touche top 10 more than once. DON'T dig deeper.

We did not make massive profits. :jesuswept:

Can we go back to talking about league positions, and champions League qualifications

Why not talk about major trophies instead. One ownership failed and one has failed so far. I know which is most likely to win one.

well, if you are saying the entire reign of Keegan in particular, and all those european qualifications, top footballers and growth of the club was a waste of time and you would rather have supported Leicester all those 15 years on account of them beating Tranmere in the final of the League Cup, it pretty much sums up your state of mind lad.

It's in front of you  you're going to direct me to some fansite now where the figures start in 2006. It's not a game but I'd quit while you're behind.

Not saying it's a waste of time. I'm just suggesting that the criteria you use to compare the respective regimes is ever so slightly selective

Operating profit does not equate to the bottom line. Does it? Otherwise it wouldn't be called 'operating profit', it was just be called 'profit'.

Here's a simple question for you. Was the business sustainable long term? Seeing as we were making such massive profits.

you went bankrupt doing it yourself. Mug.

Fuck off you brummie nonce, you're not needed or welcome you knob. If you're prepared to say personal things like that on a message board you should be prepared to do it to someones face but you're a cowardly arsehole. You'd have a hard job though seeing as you get to Newcastle bi-annually.

First off the black country reference alex made ages ago was already explained to you last week and as for being a nonce, I wasn't the one that got obsessed with a paedophile on twitter either.

I'd also like to point out that I was happily letting people on here use my season ticket for games for free if on the odd occasion I couldn't attend while you were handing over your spare cash to your trustee so again you're talking bollocks.

Just some advice mate but you're not going to make it as a professional gambler or win big on a game show, in fact I can remember when you had the idea to offer a company the chance to have their logo in your signature on forums and pay you for the privilege, like being associated with you and your ramblings would be good for their business.

You just have to accept you're one of life's losers Stevie that will never have anything, I know it's harsh but it's just the way it is.

Up to the point of Graham Souness' appointment we were one of the best football businesses in Europe, as I mentioned and Alex recalled our wages/turnover ratio was one of the best anywhere in Europe at 45% which is why we were making HUGE PROFITS, so of course we were a sustainable business again in case you can't read or don't understand, up to the point of Souness coming in, in September 2004, which is when all of the bad commercial, business, and footballing decisions started. 2004 was the pivotal point in our history, commercially, stature and footballing wise. Incredible how shit peoples memories are, it's 8 years ago ffs, EVERYONE KNEW we were making vast profits.

So losing £20m in 2000 was good business? Or £9m the season after?

Well considering we made £48m profit in 2003 and 2004, backing up my point we were financially secure, your point slating FFS handling of the club up to that point, is null and void.

But we didn't make those profits. FFS. This is basic stuff.

all together now...."we've got the biggest profits, in the land...we've got the biggest profits in the land"

What a load of shite.

I like it when this thread get busy, with LeazesMag replying to something that he probably knows fuck all about with "exactly" or "basic stuff" etc  Anyway, carry on...

how do you know what I know and don't know, shitforbrains ?

Most of what I say is sooooo basic, it shouldn't really need to be spelled out anyway.

That's all fine, so I say again, if you're prepared to personally abuse me on the internet like that, when are we meeting? You've made a right cunt of yourself here, and an even bigger one if you're not prepared to say any of that to my face. So when are we meeting or do you admit you're quite prepared to throw cowardly abuse behind the safety of your monitor.

Said at the time that they shouldn't be bankrolling Souness, dear boy, unlike our expert accountant ie Gemmill.

When are you going to admit that your DOF system that you insisted would bring guaranteed success purely because of the system, has failed ? And that it failed here at Newcastle under Wise and Keegan when you supported Wise, and it has failed at your precious Spurs having been discarded by Redknapp who for some reason you are also now pretending you have supported all along ?

The truth about Spurs is they were run "like a business, within their means" under Alan Sugar and we pissed all over them when we were run by football men, and now the situation is reversed and they are now run by football men and we are being run by "like a business, within our means" [and not even backing our manager with the money from sales, which is even worse].

But now you're saying we were giving him millions that we didn't have, I'm asking you how this is a sustainable business model?

Also Spurs are ran like a business so I'm not sure what you're on about there.

sorry but Shepherd never owned the club.

Anyway, when are you going to reply to what I said and admit what you said about Spurs under a DOF, Newcastle under Wise and Keegan and a DOF, then tell us how your Comolli is getting on at Liverpool, or is he encouraging them also to spend money they don't have ?

You have came back on here with your tail between your legs, the least you could do is admit the crap you spouted and admit this is the case.

I didn't say anything about him being the owner of the football club.

I said how is giving someone millions that you've admitted we didn't have a sustainable business model, which you didn't answer.

Baggy likes the personal stuff.

Next, he loses his rag, then he goes off in a sulk for a few years, or until Spurs have a good football team again.

There is absolutely no point in continuing any form of discussion with you if you refuse to accept that there is a difference between operational profit and retained profits.

what about your DOF guaranteed blueprint for success again ?

What happened to Wise and Keegan ?

The truth about Spurs, is EXACTLY as I've stated. How come Alan Sugars "business" model was pissed all over by the hopeless Fred and Dougie ?

There's none debating with you, because you are unwilling and unable to admit you're wrong at any point, even when it's been proven you are.

there is absolutely no point in continuing any form of discussion with you until you realise that most football supporters who go to games actually want the team to win on the pitch and understand that you do that by keeping your best players and backing your manager rather than withholding money from selling top players from him instead and saying its "good business"
