***Official Mike Ashley Euro express thread***

The thing is as has been pointed out it hasn't actually happened yet (European finish), and yet he's gone and moved the goalposts in advance. Stating the obvious here but we might well not finish in Europe- if he'd simply had the courage of his convictions, he wouldnt have had to become some dishonest revisionist.

On the specific point BBN makes-literally presenting him with the very quotes-he's banged to rights. That in a nutshell sums up why it's a complete waste of time 'debating'. Also shows up the: "If I was wrong, I'd be man enough to hold my hands up and admit it" rhetoric for the codswallop it is too. It's all about being 'right' and it's as infantile as that.

you've bickered with me for years, insisting everything I said was wrong ie the use of the club as a vehicle for Sports Direct, the lowering of ambitions, the transformation into a selling club, the fact that he would never match the european and champions league qualifications etc etc.........and all you said the other day was cast a comment about my mental state of health [for correctly sticking to my guns], which is what the mods and admin should REALLY be clamping down on in my opinion.

You can't even respond to where I drew attention to it, yet on top of blocking me because you don't want to read what I say anymore [ah diddums] you're still harping on and denying everything, and holding double standards. You're a big baby, you're pathetic.

It's definitely a case of moving the goal posts with the quotes posted, same as he's happy to lump Shepherd in with Sir John Hall now which I something he never used to do to try and add more weight to his argument.

I think whoever said in the other thread that he doesn't get any joy from the club winning and would rather be right on the internet had it bang on too.

(This is where you tell me how long you've signed up to a season ticket for:wink:)

You never did tell us what you thought of Cisse on his debut either Leazes, want to have a go now or does it hurt you to admit on first impressions he looks a very good player?

Tell you what Baggy, why don't you admit that you thought the DOF setup headed by Wise would bring automatic success, simply on the basis of being a DOF setup, and was superior to the management setup headed by Keegan ?

Then when you have done that, tell us that you also thought that the same system employed by Spurs would also do the same under Ramos before Redknapp ditched it.

Then tell us why you have appeared back on here with your tail firmly between your legs ?

I've always looked at the entire period of 1992 - 2007 as being under the same owners, because that was always the case. I'm not getting into this again, Keegan was appointed without Sir John Halls knowledge and after the club went PLC nobody owned it outright. Denis Cassidy acknowledges this in his book too.

My view is the same as always. The league positions we achieved from 1992 - 2007 will never be matched by the current owner, or anybody else who comes in and sells our best players and adopts a sell and replace policy.

You see you can't even answer what I've asked you as it would hurt you so much to admit on first appearances he looks like a good player, absolutely pathetic.

I've always answered your questions in the past by the way, even though it's often a waste of time as you ignore the answers and refer back to your Leazes post generator.

One last try Leazes, what did you think of CIsse on his debut?

good player, is one player relevant ? Is he Demba Ba's replacement though ?

I've just almost been banned for answering everybody's questions, I'm not doing it again when they just complain that I don't agree with them.

Are you going to admit what I've asked you ?

When are you going back to Newcastle Online ?

One player on his own isn't relevant but when you add him to Ba, Krul, Coloccini, Tiote and Cabaye it is exciting times, don't you agree?

My reply to your point about Wise is the same as it was the other day when you asked, what I've always said is that the club needs a solid scouting network that is the clubs rather than the managers, the reason for this is that if the manager leaves the foundations for the network are still here and will remain here, unlike the time when we sacked everyone and were left with Roeder attempting to scout a player that had already agreed to sign for someone else while trying to get the team ready for the season to start.

I never once said it would be a guaranteed success, that's you making things up and accusing people of saying them. What I did say was managing a football club from top to bottom is too much now for just one man and the days of the manager training, scouting, negotiating contracts is over apart from maybe Man Utd but that is down to how long Ferguson has been in the job, you can bet his replacement won't get that freedom.

One thing I've always said is that the manager should have the final say on what players come in to the club, to which your reply at the time was that it would make the DOF nothing more than a glorified scout, that maybe the case as we're seeing with Graham Carr now but I'm very happy with the current set up of having Carr being independent from Pardew.

I've been banned from Newcastle online so I won't be going back, similar to CT I upset a few of the Ben Arfa fan boys by questioning his ability to play in a number 10 role for us and little Dave too for saying he was a Leeds fan when he was at school.

We will NEVER qualify for europe through league position, nailed on.

Since Mike Ashley came, ALL those averages have decreased and in my humble opinion, he will NEVER qualify for europe even once by virtue of league position

You are fast becoming a bigger joke than ever. The season is far from over. We will NEVER qualify for europe by virtue of a good league position under Mike Ashley.

Why have you moved the goalposts? Why can you not just say that if it happens, you'll admit you were wrong about this. It doesn't mean that you concede defeat on your whole opinion, it just means you were wrong about this. If it happens, will you admit that you were wrong. Yes or no?

Fudging what exactly?

By the way does it matter if players are sold as long as we bring in equal or better players in to replace them and we keep pushing forward?

It's something Arsenal did for years successfully, were they in fact taking the wrong approach too?

myth. Arsene Wenger has made some canny big mistakes in the transfer market, just like everyone else.

How long do you think you can keep finding "better" players to replace the ones that are sold ? Why haven't you told Alex Ferguson about this amazing idea of yours ?

Not being funny, but this is just not sustainable, nobody has ever done it before. At the end of the day, success is down to ambition, money and paying the going rate sometimes, it always has been and always will be.

I'm only interested in the current season being better than the one that proceeds it.

Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't, but that really is the beauty of football.

The Keegan / John Hall times were good but it was probably even more fun in the fifties winning stuff.

The bottom line is whether you enjoy being involved in football. I lurve it.

How is it a myth? Was Wenger wrong to sell Anelka and replace him with Henry for a fraction of the price? He's done it plenty of times, of course he's had a few that hasn't worked out but that's the same for every club, I'm sure we will have a few that don't work out too but currently for me this is the most successful spell we've had when it comes to recruiting players which is why it amazes me you dismiss it because we didn't spend a fortune on bringing them in.

The club made it clear in the summer that it wouldn't spend all of the Carroll cash at once, which is why we had money in January to buy Cisse when you were convinced he'd pocketed it all.

All clubs are having to spend what they can afford now due to the financial fair rules, the good news is we're in a far better position to do that now than we were 5 years ago, that is without doubt in my opinion.

Watch this Leazes, this is how to admit you were wrong..... I WAS WRONG......

I was wrong to think that despite being an absolute full-baked nutty fruitcake you at least had to be admired for your refusal to give in (even though you ARE wrong about a lot of things,) and that you would reply to my (and other's;) questions..... I WAS wrong, you are SCARED to answer because you know you are wrong, and can see the proof looming if you do. I at least expected another "Shepherd & Hall blah de blah", but you havent even had the balls to do that, instead you have erased it all from your mind and are carrying on in ignorant bliss. To be fair I understand why you do it, you have to in order to be able to carry on banging your 4 note drum.

Thought you weren't a COWARD..... I .... was .... wrong!

Funny how you seem to suggest that we should build a better team at WHATEVER cost, but then snap your crayons cos we havent spent "The Carroll Cash". It feels like you'd be happier if we'd spunked it all on one player (who may or may not have proved to be a good signing. Could be a Shearer or could be an Owen).

I notice you have done you're usual and completely ignored the question i asked you, "Which of our BEST PLAYERS have we sold recently?" Why dont you have a look at the two links below to refresh your memory, (and give that NUFC almanac that is your brain a rest for two minutes)

http://www.nufc.com/...ers-pardew.html

http://www.nufc.com/...rs-hughton.html

You see I can't see anyone on there worth crying about, or is it that you're still bawling about Gazza getting shifted to Spurs??

come back when Mike Ashley has matched the champions league and league positions . Not finished in the top 6 or 7 once . IF he does.

I hope YOU will admit you are wrong when the current best players are sold and we don't back the manager to try and build on it. All the long term posters on here know exactly what I've been saying for years.

I have said to a couple of people I will not get involved in these discussions with many people, because so many people want to get involved and I am being asked too many similar questions by too many people.

Stop this obsession, it can't be good for you. I think that is the last person to be told.

Night night.

Ranked according to 1997-98 turnover in pounds m

1 Manchester United (Eng) 87.9

2 Real Madrid (Sp) 72.2

3 Bayern Munich (Ger) 65.2

4 Juventus (It) 55.3

5 Newcastle United (Eng) 49.2

6 Barcelona (Sp) 48.6

7 Milan (It) 48.5

8 Internazionale (It) 48.2

9 Chelsea (Eng) 47.5

10 Liverpool (Eng) 45.5

11 Borussia Dortmund (Ger) 41.5

13 Arsenal (Eng) 40.4

14 Parma (It) 33.4

15 Paris Saint-Germain (Fr) 32.9

16 Rangers (Sco) 32.5

17 Aston Villa (Eng) 31.8

18 Tottenham Hotspur (Eng) 31.2

19 Roma (It) 30.7

20 Leeds United (Eng) 28.3

From this to this....

The first 20 clubs belong to the five major European leagues. Besides the six from England, Italy has five clubs, four from German, three Spanish and two French (they had three last year).

Total revenues of the 20 wealthiest clubs combined reached 4.400 million euros – more than a quarter of the European football market – which means an increase of 3% over the previous year.

According to the Football Money League rankings in 2012, nine of the 20 clubs have seen their revenue grow in 2010/2011, while in the opposite direction, seven lost revenue.

Benfica (Portugal) on position 21 and Ajax (Holland) on 26th spot are the only two clubs from countries outside of the Top Five.

List of the 30 richest clubs in 2010-2011, according to Deloitte

1. Real Madrid: 479.5 million euros

2. Barcelona: 450.7 million euros

3. Manchester United: 367 million euros

4. Bayern Munich: 321.4 million euros

5. Arsenal: 251.1 million euros

6. Chelsea: 249.8 million euros

7. AC Milan: 235.1 million euros

8. Inter Milan: 211.4 million euros

9. Liverpool: 203.3 million euros

10. Schalke: 202.4 million euros

11. Tottenham: 181 million euros

12. Manchester City: 169.6 million euros

13. Juventus: 153.9 million euros

14. Marseille: 150.4 million euros

15. Rome: 143.5 million euros

16. Borussia Dortmund: 138.5 million euros

17. Lyon: 132.8 million euros

18. Hamburg: 128.8 million euros

19. Valencia: 116.8 million euros

20. Naples: 114.9 million euros

21. Benfica: 102.5 million euros

22. Atletico Madrid: 99.9 million euros

23. Werder Bremen: 99.7 million euros

24. Aston Villa: 99.3 million euros

25. Newcastle: 98 million euros

26. Ajax: 97.1 million euros

27. Stuttgart: 95.5 million euros

28. Everton: 90.8 million euros

29. West Ham: 89.1 million euros

30. Sunderland: 87.9 million euros

There have been times over the last 15 years that Aston Villa have financially literally been half of our size. If this isn't a brilliant indicator of what an abysmal businessman Ashley is I don't know what is. We've been overtaken by Villa!!!!! Fuckin how? We have a much bigger fanbase, we have 15000 more people through the gate paying higher prices, how the fuck has this happened. "Ashley's a good businessman" he's a wank and is turning us in to a grotty footballing version of his cheap and chatty SD empire. That is an abysmal showing for Newcastle no matter how you look at it, our sponsorship deals should be FAR beyond the likes of Villa and Everton, even the mackems are catching us.
