We effectively sold Alan Smith...and saved £65k on his wages.

Selling club

Aren't we picking up most of his wages?

Yeah.

They're paying £2500 a week for 26 weeks = £65k

Effectively saving us 1 weeks wages on the bloke

Guest CabayeAye

Thing is with Leazes is that he's like me dad. Long since passed caring whether he's right or wrong anymore; he's just continuing the argument to piss the other person off for his own amusement.

I can see him chuckling to himself as someone foolishly tries to argue the point. He'll then throw in the same tired argument, type usual 'your man' shite and he's done for another day.

Dull as fuck and pointless even trying to engage him.

Dunno about that like, I'd go as far as to say it keeps him awake at night.

Nah, it's the pissed mattess that keeps him up. Should give Tena men a go.

Played 23 Points 39

So we're now 9 points above 8th with 45 points left to play for, it's not in the bag but we're in a great position.

We still need the FA cup to have 2 of the top 7 in the final to open up 7th place for a European spot however going into the 5th round none of the 4 remaining clubs are drawn against each other, they've all got decent draws too apart from Arsenal who are away to either Boro or Sunderland but they will still be the favourites.

Magpies captain

Fabricio Coloccini believes Newcastle can start to adjust their targets after climbing up to fifth in the Barclays Premier League following Wednesday night's 2-0 win at Blackburn Rovers.

United went above Arsenal with their latest success, coupled with the Gunners drawing against Bolton, and the three points gained at Ewood Park took them up to 39 for the season.

That is one short of the magic 40 point mark which is said to guarantee top flight survival - and Argentina international Coloccini admitted that the players and fans could begin to aim higher now that their first aim has been all but met.

He spoke exclusively to nufc.co.uk after the victory, which came thanks to Scott Dann's own goal and Gabriel Obertan's injury time strike - plus a

Tim Krul penalty save.

"We knew Blackburn would make it hard for us," said the classy defender, who turned 30 last month. "The game was probably not that good to watch, and sometimes we couldn't play our best football, but we showed the character of the team.

"It's good to win in this way, and we know now that we can have dreams because we're one point, maybe two points, away from the total you need to be safe.

"That's good, because we can look forward. Why not dream about playing in a European cup?

"I think it is okay to dream - but only if we keep winning."

We were lucky but it's about time we had some luck, the Swansea game springs to mind where we dominated but just couldn't score.

Not that I live or have ever lived anywhere near Blackburn.

23 games gone, above Liverpool and Arsenal and 3 points behind Chelsea, both BA and Cisse to return for the next game and Tiote and Cabaye later this month. If results go our way this weekend then there will be daylight between us and 6th place. Long way to go yet but its been a successful league campaign so far

Well, whether we like it or not, the media are now focussing on the race for fourth and due to our excellent position we are being included in the clubs chasing fourth.

The table doesnt lie and we are currently 5th, 3 points off Champions League qualification. Come Sunday evening we could well be joint fourth with 14 games left!

Now I know some will want to stick their heads in the sand and not contemplate its possibility, but we are still hanging in give injuries, suspensions and missing ANC players.

Unless we have a sudden crash of form, we are going to remain within touching distance all the way to the end.

As we have played some crap football and still achieved results, a crash of form would have to be pretty spectactular.

And lets consider our competitors. Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are not the untouchable forces they have been previously.

And we face these last 15 games with a new striker.

Pretty exciting run in for quite a while.

I can't buy into the joy.

Chelsea has too much strength in depth. Not sure about Litterpoo, as I've got a feeling they could be clicking at the right moment of the season. If we were to finish above any of the 'big 6', I think it would be Arsenal.

The Europa League certainly is a possibility.

It's fucking delusional is what it is. Europa League is a realistic target if certain players stay fit but CL? Shizzle on a stick.

I can only assume CT is fishing for bites because he's waiting for a fare and bored......

Give over daft lad. Its hardly delusional when we are 3 points off fourth spot in February!

Might take some doing but delusional......Have a word.
