Your figure is £14.75m out so shut up Leazes.

where has the Carroll money been spent by the manager ?

The manager doesnt spend the money, the club does. What other financial outgoings have gone on in the same period? Ben Arfa £5.75m, Cissé now universally reported as £10m by everyone, not £8m, £6.8m cost of changing the structure of the squad serving Pardew's desire to change the way we play. I would add in that Nolan did not cost the same as Cabaye, Obertan cost more than Routledge, £40k for a new bore-hole. It all adds up, which is why i will be pedantic about every single estimate, get it wrong by £1m 30 times and you are a long way out and then the message is incorrect. Its important to get the facts right, dont you think?

of courseit's important to get the facts right, and the facts are that NUFC are a selling club again, like they were in the days of McKeag, Seymour etc, and the rest of the premiership knows it.

They don't back their managers.

But isnt buying Cisse backing the manager? I dont think its as clear cut as you make out LM. I'd love for them to go and spash the remaining £15M or whatever it is, but at the same time I can appreciate their method of scout the player well and not rush into any purchase. That method is what has landed us Cisse. I also think its impossible to track. DL said having that money would allow us to react which is what we are doing. but a forward as one was needed and look at a centre half as thats what is needed. I think I read that they expect to buy a back up defender this window and a large target defender in the summer. Now I like to assume money will be made available in the summer, but how much who knows?

Also as I understood its not as easy saying £35M less £15M etc as they also have a wage roll to consider. I understand this. If Nolan goes and we save say £35K per week and we bring a player in on £40K per week over say 3 years that extra £780K comes from a pot. The same pot as the transfer month I guess. So long as the wages are over a threshold then the transfer pot is reduced. If wages comes down then it should give more back.

Its all conjecture really what Im saying, much as yours is.

But, again Ill add if we are improving over the last season then their policy can't be all wrong, as frustrating to us as it is.

Nolan wanted to leave the get the best available contract, tellingly only a Championship club would give him it. Enrique wanted to go like Hamann and Jenas and Woodgate did, so he went, like they did. Barton was a bad egg and it actully cost the club fucking him off (it'd have been cheaper to keep him than to sign Obertan). So really it all comes down to Carroll, oh wait didn't he request a transfer?

We could, of course, persuade players to stay by giving them huge contracts. But Mike Ashley seems to like his staff to have incentive based rewards and they're clearly having the desired effect, sorry if that pisses on your parade but it just works. We don't seem to get as many players mysteriously in the treatment room for weeks on end anymore now that they're probably paid an appearence fee, and the goalscoring bonus he's probably given Ba hasn't done any harm. Wonder if he'd have scored as many if he'd just offered him 100k per week like and a private jet to and from Senegal for training

So If we sell a player and replace him with a better player for less money - is that not good sustainable business?

so where is the rest of the money, if the intention is to build a better football team, club and go higher ?

Why don't you back your manager, having appointed him ?

Surely a £10m striker is backing the manager? We've watched Liverpool become a laughing stock after spunking £35m on Carroll because it clearly isn't the right club for him and he isn't the right player for the club. So whilst it's ambtious from Liverpool it's a complete waste, opportunism instead of calculated transfers.

They've watched Cisse for two years and now was the right time to buy him, backing your manager doesn't have to mean ''spending all your money at once'' because you'll find you waste it like Liverpool did.

I'm as big a sceptic of Ashley as anyone but when he does right I'll acknowledge it.

If I'm replying in a thread where he is talking his usual crap then I will say so

Tbf though you bang on about him spouting the same old shit etc. but you more or less stalk him on here at the same time. I'm not arsed by the way, just an observation ;)

It's hard to avoid its the same in every thread, I know I should just ignore him but I bite

Guest CabayeAye

Pardews signings (ignoring youth/pointless players)

In (£m)

5.75 Ben Arfa

4.3 Cabaye

0 Ba

0 Marveaux

0 Abeid

3 Obertan

5 Santon

0.5 Elliot

8 Cisse

Total: £26.55m

Out:

35 Carroll

3.5 Nolan

1.5 Routeledge

6 Enrique

0 Barton

0.5 Lua Lua

Total: £46.5m

= £19.95m profit (not counting agents fees, signing on fees, Smiths fleecing of the club)

More importantly, we have sold two good players (Carroll and Enrique) and purchased five good players (Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Ba, Santon and Cisse).

But yeah, we're a selling club, and we've signed no-one. We haven't made any progress under Pardew and everyone should be sacked! Bring back Freddy so we can sign more Luques, Boumsongs, Owens and Smiths!

They aren't "taking their time", the manager will not see this money from the Carroll sale, and other players will be sold and he will not see the money from those sales either.

They have set their stall out, they have no intention of backing their manager. It is as obvious as the nose on your face.

thats right, we are a selling club, like we were under McKeag, Seymour etc.

Bring back the quality of players and retention of players who brought us Champions League football, the 5th most qualified team for CL and europe in 15 years, the 5th highest average league position in 15 years, the highest league positions achieved by NUFC for over 50 years, a massive building of the club from one foot in the 3rd division to an established premiership one expected to compete for high places by even their own supporters to the extent they were booed for only finishing 5th, and a club that couldn't sell for 1.25m [less than we got for the sale of Beardsley to Liverpool], into the 14th biggest turnover in football.

Of course, some people don't want those days back do they ? :icon_lol:

God, you're dumb.

And it "doesn't work", because we will NEVER match the league positions, european qualifications that we did under the old regime.

Never, for as long as you have a hole in your arse, a selling club will NEVER get long term consistent good league positions.

Here's a tip for you. Look back into the record books, as you clearly have a faulty memory [if indeed you are over 16 years old] and post all the players who the club bought and were happy at the club and contributed to those CL and european qualifications.

We don't have the resources Liverpool have, when financial fair play kicks in we can perhaps catch up in the long run but their transfer policy is a disgrace at the moment and it's looking like it.

Nearly a hundred million pound on Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson & Stewart Downing.

Would you rather we spent say £0 on Ba, £4m on Cabaye & £5m on Ben Arfa or the above?

Given that it would plunge the club into unmanageable debt?

We are a selling club, why do all these people keep defending Ashley. Its getting nearly as bad as some of the twats on newcastle online on here!

We will acheive nothing with Ashley, its about survival in the top division and make as much money as possible. He has got lucky so far, he will not build on that luck by keeping his best players and investing in further quality players to make the next step and challenge for a top 4 place. He is a still a cunt as far as im concerned. How can people still defend a person who lied to the fans, lied to kevin keegan, a living legend of this club and changed the name of our ground for tacky advertising. Disgraceful

You know who they are. We are one of the best supported clubs in Europe. Do you think the billionairre Ashley will keep our best players and invest in further quality players and try to make the next step and challenge for the top four?

Talking about when we were in the Champions League as a benchmark to match what the previous lot done is absolutely pointless, we're in a completely different era of football now.

Back then it was the era of local businessmen owning clubs, it was an era when most clubs attempted to live within their means and the one's that didn't either went under like Leeds or came close to it like Chelsea, football was so much simpler then for us as it was a case of employ a different manager and the chance of getting into the top 4 was back on since it was a small pool of teams at the top and apart from Man Utd and Arsenal the rest of the teams were nothing special.

Then Abramovich came and bought Chelsea and everything changed, I honestly think we would have qualified for the CL the year we came 5th if he hadn't bought them and the more big investors that came in looking to throw money about the more we struggled, to be fair to Shepherd he did take the gamble but it was with the wrong managed and it failed spectacularly and it was a position I didn't see him ever recovering from, the financial hole was too deep.

Now look at the league compared to back then, we've got a team like Liverpool spending £100 million and they can't get top 4, I think Man City spent over £300 million before getting there and for a club without outside investment it's practically impossible.

Does anyone really think we would have got back into the CL in this current era with Hall and Shepherd still owning the club? Not a fucking chance is what I think.

We are superior now on and off the pitch compared to how the club was when Ashley took charge, I don't think there is anyone that can doubt that and while it has taken time to turn the club around I don't think people can have any complaints about the direction we're going in.

And how is it that in two posts side by side I can be asked my opinion on the man (which I keep to myself because of nonsense like this and will continue to do so) and then accused of being on the list of his supporters?

I've answered this in the other thread. There is ManU and 2 bankrolled clubs. That is all. The old regime has ManU and one bankrolled club. They challenged them because they were football men and knew the club, your man isn't and won't challenge ManU and the 2 bankrolled clubs. This is no excuse for NUFC behaving like West Brom, Blackburn, Bolton etc. The club is not progressing, it will NEVER match the league positions, in the same league, against the same competitors, with the same club as the previous regime, because your man will NOT rise to the challenge and attempt it, with one of the biggest clubs in europe, courtesy of the previous regime, who took over a club with one foot in the 3rd division, light years inferior in every way to the club that your man Ashley found.
