LeazesMag 0
I think less than 7th would be a great disappointment, from where we are. I believe we are "comfortably" the best of the rest, it's a good platform, whether we can (or will) build upon it who can say. I can say.

Happy Face 29
Looking beyond the league position, 8 points less and about 10 teams within 1-2 points... very similar yes.. That's why it's similar but not the same...and our best opportunity in a decade. Those 8 points...make us a much better prospect, but we'd already visited Man U, Man City and Arsenal after 12 games last season. We've only visited one of the top teams so far. Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
The question for me is - what team aside from the top 6 ( which will probably comfortably pass us during the spring season lets be honest ) will overtake our 15 point lead? I cant see any. So I agree, worst case scenario we finish 7th. Im already booking a double-room for me and Tecato for our away-matches in europe Does 7th automatically get you into the Europa League these days? ewerk 30175
No one has the financial capabilities to sign five or six players? What big signings have we made? None of them have broken the bank. Look at the money we've spent in the last few years compared to the likes of Sunderland or Stoke, the difference is we've made some very astute signings and to a certain extent we've been lucky, it could happen to a number of other clubs. Which club outside the top 6 is capable of signing a player like Cabaye?? A french international wouldn't go to Stoke, Aston Villa or WBA they just wouldn't. Swansea and Everton have Dutch internationals, Sunderland and Blackburn have Argentinian internationals, Everton have a Russian international, Stoke and Sunderland have Danish internationals. All those countries are ranked about France in the FIFA rankings. Are we more of an attraction than those other clubs? Yes. But that doesn't mean they won't sign decent players that aren't wanted by the top 6 and it doesn't preclude us from selling our top players or slipping down the league. Outside of the top 6 we are the biggest club in England, that doesn't necessarily equate to league positions.

TicTacWoe 0
Since before the season started I've felt we could finished 7th with this squad. Aston Villa's shit choice of manager and Everton not signing a player for a fee in 2 fucking years has helped massively though. As fr being the "best of the rest" for years to come, that relies heavily on keeping the squad together or if they are sold, replacing them wisely. Say what? come one, you must know by now. i agree with stevie fwiw that from our current position we should be the 7th strongest team (or thereabout) for the next few years. the only problem with that argument is that we know from experience that fatty will think of nothing of flogging our best players and gambling by replacing them with cheaper, unproven players. it seems to be working this season and i think it'll take a disaster from here on the pitch or a holocaust of a january transfer window for us not to finish at least 7th from this position. the outlook beyond this season though is far from certain. What do you think ? Thing is, Toonpack gave Mike Ashley until 1st September just past to "judge" his intentions, and despite wittering on since and effectively denying it, he hoped that the money for Carroll would be spent and ambition would be shown. Despite being told by myself and others that it would not happen. Now, with that comment, he is confirming he still holds out hope the owner will show ambition. Maybe he will now give Mike Ashley until September 1st 2017, I asked him this question recently and he didn't reply. Hopefully he will see my comment this time. I think we'll finish the season in 7th. We'll all be looking at it and discussing whether we will fall back and be caught by Villa/QPR or whoever or whether we can reach 6th by adding 2-3 players. Then well be taken aback by the sale of 2 key players and we'll bring in replacements who "could" be as good. But in real terms we'll stay still and others will close the gap again. Thats pretty much what I think will happen. We'll see £15M of clever spending needed to inch forward but we'll be told how the club has to run off its own gas etc. For now, I'll take 7th and be happy. More than 3 times as much as he's spent in any window since his first?
