Brock Manson 0
I'll put it simply; FF would have steered the club to relegation as Ashley did. but he didn't. Only Ashley did. "FF" along with the Halls, saved the club from administration, got the club into the premiership, champions League and europe, and was NEVER relegated. Stick to the facts. I'll stick to the facts when YOU look at the whole picture rather than picking sweetcorn from shite. FF turned the club around, almost saw us win the league (albeit almost 20 years ago) and did indeed bankroll a club that featured as a prominent European team for a number of seasons. YOU are without a doubt, 100% correct on this and not a single poster disagrees with this fact. What he also did (and what YOU refuse to accept) was utterly destroy us financially by spending far beyond our means using money that we didn't have. He hired dreadful managers after an appalling choice sacking Sir Bobby a handful of games into a season. He signed aged mercenary players who simply weren't coming for anything other than the astronomical wages on offer. He may have got us to the lofty heights of european football (all whilst ultimately winning nowt but the Intertoto Cup ) but he is just as culpable for our relegation as Ashley. He had us teetering on the edge for Ashley to teeter us over. This all happened by the way, it's not conjecture. FF's final few seasons saw us take gigantic fat waddling strides in a backwards direction because his money spunking method wasn't working anymore and he had no Plan B. Do you honestly think that FF would have kept us up with YOUR man Allardyce at the helm? Now we're battling for a top 7 finish - our highest in YEARS and you say it's a flash in the pan in terms of progress. The thing is we can only tell if that's for sure if we aren't in a similar/better position both points and squad-wise at the end of next season. I'm talking about the setup and aims over 15 years, not a couple of cherry picking points. Idiot. I've posted you the facts. The Fish 10677
The only reason I attract the attention and response I get from other posters is only because I said years ago that replacing the old regime with better would be very difficult, and people associate everything I say with "Fred" for that very reason, even though what I said is as obvious as the nose on your face and unfortunately has proved to be the case, and some people just can't accept it because of their hatred of Fred, which is absurd. No, it isn't. yes it is No and the very fact you can't see it renders any further conversation pointless.

Don't see what Reading have to do with owt considering i've supported Newcastle since I was 4 years old. Hell, I was a season ticket holder during the premiership yet when Newcastle played at the Mad Stad I was in the away stand supporting Newcastle. We lost both times mind. I'm also talking about the set up over 15 years. I on the other hand am looking not only at the good times but at where we were when it ended; nowhere near where we were when the club peaked. You couldn't make it up. show me where I have ever said "what if FF had stayed". Other people ask me that, you dope. And yes, I'm making a judgement on the future, just as I made one years ago that Mike Ashley would use NUFC as an advertisement vehicle for Sports Direct and would not attempt to challenge the heights seen before, settling for premiership survival to promote the company. He will sell a player to make a profit if this isn't done operationally, he will never attempt to match the clubs we used to compete with and finish above that are now attempting to match the sugar daddies. He is a retailer by instinct, he will buy and sell players like he does with his companies to try and do it, everything has a price, He will not back his managers fully as a manager of NUFC ought to be. We are competing with the 2nd rate selling clubs. As the financial whizz kids dismissed this as "nonsense", and still do, and continue to do so, you tell me what is nonsense about that. You couldn't make it up, indeed you couldn't. Then you can leave the intelligent debate to the people who know about the football club and aren't deluded fuckwits.
