LeazesMag 0
Why are you using Perch and Obertan in your example? Why not Ba, Tiote and Cisse? They were all brought in under this "set up". why do people put Owen down as their example of "failure" ? Ba, Tiote and Cisse will all be sold for cheaper, and so it will go on. One day, people like you might just wake up.

Exactly it's like comparing Ba, Tiote and Cisse to Spearling, Doni and Aquillani.

Why did you deliberately ignore the good players we have signed and start comparing Perch and Obertan to Carroll, Enrique and Bellamy?

Would people not like Messi to play for Newcastle ? After all this time, you STILL don't get it Edited February 27, 2012 by LeazesMag
Gejon 2
What don't I get? I asked why you were choosing to compare those players rather than the quality players we had signed. I didn't mention trophy signings once. When will YOU learn to read and comprehend a sentence?

Correct, the likelihood is we will sell them on for more than we paid for them and then fail to give the proceeds to the manager to invest in the team. Thats why we will never realise our potential under Ashley and thats why teams like Liverpool will continue to win trophies
ADP 0
Carling cup is a tin pot trophy. I think I said that when Spurs won it - out of pure spite. I'd fucking love to win it. i would have a week long comedown from the wreck id get in if we won the tin pot trophy tbf
Davey Dave 0
Whilst this competition is something I think we can all agree that we would give our right arm to win, this is below Liverpool's standards. Well, I say standards, this is below their hugely inflated opinion of themselves. Notice how the quotes read as 'going on to bigger things' and 'stepping stone'. The big prize still eludes them and it eats away at them. Burns inside them whilst Man U. continue to pick up title after title. So whilst they beat their chest for the time being it must dawn on most that whilst this would be success as far as we see it, to them this is a minimal return to what has been invested. Not good enough. Carroll and the rest will still be seen as a big waste of money. It's small comfort, I know. But when you realise the scousers support a team who's only association with 'dark times' was the Souness era, it helps a little.

Yes, it is. indeed, league positions and champions league/european qualifications is fairly straightforward stuff, laid out in the form of a league table after 38 games, over many years. Even a kid can understand that, or ought to.

LeazesMag 0
Unless you think league tables are a figment of the imagination. What does the league table say at the moment? it says we are having a fairly decent season so far. Nothing more, nothing less. Are you one of those who thought the season ended in November, and one decent season means everything is just wonderful at the club ? And the Champions League too, courtesy of these despicable trophy signings. But who is talking about FFS, who never owned the club by the way. LeazesMag 0
as per the thread, Andy Carroll's career [despite the daft sniggering] at Liverpool, is going just fine. In fact he picked up a Wembley winners medal 2 days ago, along with Jose Enrique. The odds are also on them also consolidating their position, rather than selling them on at a profit and replacing with cheaper. Still, Liverpool buying our trophy players is an inferior transfer policy to ours, according to some. Some people will never learn.

Happy Face 29
Leazes as always is spot on. It's a ridiculous notion that Liverpool would sell Carroll for a profit. ..and that says it all about them. Not what they did with their own youth products such as Michael Owen or Steve mcMananman or Robbie Fowler who were sold at a profit or refused lucrative contracts. Or even the huge profit they realised from Torres. Those are unimportant in the grand scheme of things. What's important is that their cheaper replacements are winning medals. oh!
