Carroll left NUFC for a progressive club, same as Enrique. Carroll hasn't had the best of starts to his Liverpool career, he may even move on, but he's won one winners medal and may play in another Final.

Good luck to both of them. I understand their reasons for moving, even if small minded people do not.

I am pleased NUFC have done well and even better without them, so far, but would be even happier if they were both still here and/or the manager was allowed the full money from their sale to improve the team as much as possible.

Edited later for the benefit of Jon, and anybody else who can't read.

Apart from those they did :D

it's quite sad that you don't see the basic difference between backing your manager and not backing your manager.

Whatever.

Andy Carroll must be really regretting this move, and what a load of money Liverpool have wasted last summer.

Based on what I've seen of them this season this is by far the worst Liverpool team I have seen in my lifetime. Wouldn't you agree ??

More absolutely woeful and desperate crack from Leazes.

Carroll and Enrique left for a club that win things at the end of the day and fair enough on that score. It's just something that Liverpool do and we don't. So if they'd both have stayed here for instance, (which would have been a sign of NUFC being 'progressive' in Leazes book), they'd have won nowt. At which point he could have had a good laugh at them like now presumably. Liverpool will do it despite the countless millions they've pissed up the wall in the league and they'll do it because they have the pedigree and because the media demand it of them. They're in an exclusive band of clubs that win things every few seasons for those reasons. They pay the top wages but they demand most from their servants. We only ever paid the top wages. They did it during the time when we were 'being progressive' as the biggest spenders around, buying the biggest names and they werent. They won cups then and we still won nowt. Their players back then must now be really regretting playing for Liverpool and picking up cups instead of playing for the Toon and winning nowt. Or maybe not. Obviously the latter.

We've had a belting season and we've progressed. Carroll has been replaced by two much better strikers. That doesn't make him bad but it means we've moved on and are a better team for it now. That's all we can ask for now. Steadily build and see where it gets us. Start from the beginnings in those areas of the club that had become truly appalling and drive up our standards of acceptability without obsessing over anyone else. No delusion, just graft. Liverpool would swap Carroll for Ba and Cisse in a heartbeat.

Leazes in full on bitter meltdown of late and brilliant to see. I thought he couldn't get any worse than that time he was on the telly demanding someone "like that Arab man at Manchester City" but he's surpassed himself this month. Absolute mint.

Win things and get more money it must be said. Wanted neither to have gone at the time, but now that only rings true for Enrique. Carroll's sale has

been fantastic for us, and could be even better if more of his sale price is invested into our European squad.

................................ and what a load of money Liverpool have wasted last summer.

They have already won silverware this season, they are in Europe, and they are in the final of the FA Cup which they could possibly win and get more silverware. It could be argued if they have wasted a load of money, especially when a lot of the money they spent was what they got in the sale of Torres.

LM, you know no fucker else has a clue what you are on about when you keep banging on about this "rubbish" thing. By all means link it when you say it to at least give us half a chance.

As has already been said though. do you think Woodgate or Hamman regretted leaving? Both left to further their career at bigger clubs.

Honestly JawD, I'm astonished that you are asking me this after I've explained the difference so many times. It is highlighted in post nr 954 - again.

Maybe my memory is hazy, what did we win when we were being "progressive"?

Honestly Leazes, I think you should hold off dismissing the current system until it's been in place for the same period of time as the old regime. That way, you won't come off as a lunatic. :dunno:

Oh sweet Jesus. Not that argument again.

It doesn't matter where they got the money from, it's still been wasted!

If you give me £50 and I spend it on alcopops instead of investing it in some high quality liquor, it's a waste of my money is it not? That a large portion of the £115m Dalglish has spent was recouped from Torres does not matter really - imagine what we could have done with £50m.

Like it or not, league positions are what it comes down to at the end of the day. The cups are not a true indication of the quality of a club. I mean Cardiff made the semi of this year's league cup and now-Championship Birmingham won it last year. Liverpool's season has been a massive failure, saved by their cup form.

you're entitled to your opinion. I will remind you that this is the first decent season in 5 years. An entire century of football and successful clubs showing how it is achieved and sustained says you and the other clowns are wrong.

Meanwhile, I hope you are going to castigate people for making up and posting untrue comments about others.

I will happily pull people for doing that, the minute you stop. If you persist, I can't very well hold other's to a higher standard now can I? That would be unfair and unlike you, I don't want to be a hypocrite.

you tell me I do it but don't tell others that they do it ?

I'll let the results and longer term league positions of the club do the talking for me. As always. The first decent season in 5 years, as I said.

My overall thoughts on this thread are in post nr 954. What a pity that you can't offer anything constructive in reply, other than such bitterness and sour grapes like others.

I was asking about Woodgate etc, just to draw parallels. I know exactly why the other two left. At the time it looked like we were staying still and Liverpool were buying to move on. I dont really have an issue with that. But thats not the point I was making.
