Carroll`s career so far in Liverpool

as per the thread, Andy Carroll's career [despite the daft sniggering] at Liverpool, is going just fine. In fact he picked up a Wembley winners medal 2 days ago, along with Jose Enrique. The odds are also on them also consolidating their position, rather than selling them on at a profit and replacing with cheaper. Still, Liverpool buying our trophy players is an inferior transfer policy to ours, according to some.

Some people will never learn.

I think you are fairly safe in your claim Liverpool won't sell Carroll on for a profit

I've always been fairly safe when I said that replacing the old board with better would be extremely difficult, despite the idiots on NO who disagreed so much with me. Not that it ought to have taken rocket science to see that, chum, but apparently it did.

Sometimes the obvious just doesn't sink in with some people.

Leazes as always is spot on. It's a ridiculous notion that Liverpool would sell Carroll for a profit.

..and that says it all about them. Not what they did with their own youth products such as Michael Owen or Steve mcMananman or Robbie Fowler who were sold at a profit or refused lucrative contracts. Or even the huge profit they realised from Torres. Those are unimportant in the grand scheme of things.

What's important is that their cheaper replacements are winning medals.

oh!

oh.

what is important is that on the odd occasion when they sell their best players ie local lads Gerrard and Carragher who wanted to leave, they back their manager completely to improve the team with all of the cash, in addition to the usual amount befitting an ambitious club that attempts to win things.

And hey presto, they won a trophy on Sunday, and they won't sell their best players rather than build on it by continuing to back their manager.

So Andy Carroll is doing just fine, as is Jose Enrique.

indeed. We are still waiting for Mike Ashley to get anywhere near the hopeless fools who he bought the club from.

LeazesMag - you can pack it right in with the misquoting before you start. If you can't argue without changing what's been said, then your points carry no weight, chum.

If a club offered anywhere near what they paid for Carroll they would snatch their fucking arms off. He's done next to fuck all there and that's from Liverpool fans

he's just won a winners medal in a Wembley final, and who do you think is more likely to break into the top 4 between us and Liverpool ?

End of story

He wouldn't want to leave though. No other club would match his wages.

I don't really dwell on Enrique leaving as he wanted out and refused to negotiate a new deal, the thing is Leazes makes out this is exclusive to Ashley's time at the club but that isn't the case.

I can remember Ollie Bernard refusing to negotiate a new deal and insisting he hadn't seen the contract, it was all bullshit of course but he wanted out and was prepared to run down his contract to get the move away he wanted and I think we ended up accepting an offer from Southampton in the Janaury for them to keep him until his contract ran out in the summer just to get some money for him.

Bernard was every bit as important to the team back then as Enrique was last season, but then if players are determined to leave there really isn't much you can do about it.

I won't mention the quality of the replacement for either player as that's not really important, the important thing is we made a net spend on replacing Bernard and not on Enrique, so we obviously showed more ambition with the replacement.

So did the Birmingham players last year. I don't think either us or Liverpool will get top 4 but they have spent over 100mil not doing it and they are still below us in the table. God you must be fucking praying we don't finish above them this season

the success of the overall policy, is determined by league positions over time. Mike Ashley has a long, long way to go before you can even start to compare, but who is talking about the old regime here ? I'm talking about the lack of ambition of the current regime, something you won't accept, and you have also forgot about yourself proclaiming non-stop a few years ago how this DOF system would bring automatic success, before it was binned by Redknapp at the Spurs you held up as the perfect example under Ramos and Comolli, and also used it as some sort of proof that the NUFC regime headed by Wise was superior to that managed by Keegan, at the time.

So what was different between Enrique refusing to sign a new deal and Bernard doing the same?

Although the irony of you complaining about a DOF while in a thread praising the transfer policy of a club that employs a DOF does tickle me.
