Newcastle shirt sponsors

Come to think of it, it'd be a good supporter litmus test for SD to be on the shirt.

It's the only degree of control Fat Mike can give to the supporters - don't buy the SD logo shirt and it'll demonstrate how no-one wants to have SD plastered all over the club.

That said, there'll still be thousands of helmets who will buy it anyway, even if he had "Fuck you geordie cunts" written in red and white letters on the front.

If SD paid for the sponsorship, would that change your opinion (I'm not asking/speculating whether they will or not) just asking on the basis IF they did pay.

On the basis that they DID pay, then there would be less reason to not buy the shirt. I wouldn't buy it because it'd probably look dreadful (same reason I haven't bought this season's shirt).

The fact is that he owns the club and so he doesn't have to pay a penny to have his company as the sponsor.

If we do end up with SD on the shirts, no doubt it would be accompanied by a sob story about how the fan's have put off other sponsors, therefore the club is running with decreased turnover, so there's no money to buy players.

From an Ashley point of view that sounds like a good way of maximising revenues at his profitable company and minimising losses at his loss making one.

If the FCB put SD on the shirt, NOBODY would buy it. He would lose loads of revenue from shirt sales.

You only need to look at how many people bought the monstrous yellow strip to know that this isn't true. He'll lose some sales, but loads will still buy it.

I think the yellow strip was legendary, and I bought it.

Would people accept the Virgin Money Arena? Cos if they're paying to make a name change, they're gonna want it to benefit them. Paying to name it SJP doesn't make much sense.

The good press they'd receive by the name change would be worth more to them than it being called the Virgin arena imo. They'd still have their logos plastered all over the shop add to that the Shirts and I think Virgin would happily have all the major backpages running how they've changed the name back ahead of being tarred with the same "doesn't understand the fans" brush as Sports Direct. I know Branson is all about press coverage, but if the move back to SJP costs him nothing and gets him complimentary press coverage... I just think he'd prefer that to the bad press he'd get (and fairly limited brand bump) from naming it the Virgin Arena.

probably just wishful thinking mind.
