Sameobi some nice touches and I like the way he runs so freely with the ball.

Had a none-too-shabby game to be fair, same can't be said for Raylor!

We missed great chances at crucial points of the game, you can't do it against a team like City.

What a squad they have now though, look a real threat for the title.

These are the games where a makeshift left back gets found out...Raylor completely out of his depth and not just the mistakes, his concetration, postitioning and tackling were all poor. Not idea why Santon can't get a game.

I don't wish to sound condescending Parky, but... really? Seriously?

Why would anyone break up what was until today the best defence in the league?

I don't think Taylor will be dropped for the Man Utd game. Don't get me wrong I'm sure Pardew is aware of Taylor's flaws and that he's not playing in his natural position. If he feels that he has to drop him for Santon, I'm sure he will. Unfortunately for those that want Santon to start, this is only one game and it's a particularly unique game as it's against a record-breaking Man City side with astonishing strength in depth.

Do we want Chelsea to win because we're not going to be challenging them, Liverpool to win to keep the top 6 tight and nervy, or a draw?

I hope for a draw in every game that doesn't involve us because it leaves a point on the table, so to speak. That approach has the most expected value for us without the benefit of hindsight later on.

A good effort from us today, we certainly created a few chances. Disappointed to lose in the way we did, by that I mean giving away two penalties and some awful defending from Ryan Taylor.

Glad to see Ben Arfa getting back into the swing of things, certainly looks to be improving with every game.

I'd 100% rather see Man Utd win it. No doubt in my mind at all about that.

Fair enough. What about Chelsea/ManU or Chelsea/City?

To be honest my opinion of Man City is similar to my view of Chelsea.

I get where you're coming from though in a way. What Man City, Chelsea, PSG, Malaga, Anzhi, Shakter etc are doing is something you can't control and you just have to let them get on with it. And to be fair, we were never challenging for the league ourselves so it's not like their owners have come in and bought success away from us. As a fan of football I'm not at all comfortable with it. Like I said I respect their team, but not the club. It's just not right. I couldn't sit there at the end of the season clapping them, let's put it that way.

I'm not suggesting that Man Utd are this saintly club who came from poverty to attain enormous success either. I'm hardly their biggest fan.

In some ways that a positive (sort of), it's not like they ripped us to shreds, despite the gulf in quality and £££'s

I suppose there is some small consolation in the fact that despite their total domination and control of the game they were unable to capitalize on their possession. 2 penalties and a fuck-up by Raylor sadly burst our unbeaten bubble of success.

BenArfa showed all the signs of being a class player.

I think you've got to understand that football is a money game, and whoever has the most money is going to have the best team and win - whether that money comes from loaded owners, or decades of merchandise flogging from building up a global brand, you're not going to get a plucky club run by locals or built on sound ethical principals etc winning. Probably the most 'principled' title contenders of recent years have been Arsenal but they just can't compete now. Man City (can't see them not winning) will have bought the title, but I don't really find it more distasteful than Man Utd winning it. At least it will be someone other than Terry or Ferguson lifting the title.

Exactly. but we're stil gonna hear (I've already heard it tbh) "well that's shown that Newcastle aren't really a top team, they've had an easy schedule etc" from pundits and "experts" alike. But that's not really the case, I mean they didn't say that when Citeh trashed Manure at OT or when Manure beat Arsenal 8-2.

No pressure game where we weren't expected to win.

Happy we scored and didn't let the gazillionaires walk it. Hope Pards can keep the lads' heads up over the next two games as they'll also both be very difficult to get something from.

Aye, draws are where its at. You need to a mathematical imbecile to prefer otherwise. That being said, I might just be one just to see Liverpool lose... you know what, fuck it. 6-0 to Chelsea would do me just ricely..

good performance. they didn't steamroller us by any means. we had a good few chances, their goals were all down to silly mistakes from us. we didn't get hammered in the same way man u did against them.

Well, cant remember the last time I saw as bad a performance as the one from Raylor today. And Im not saying that because Im pissed, I thought we did ok, it was just a lot of individual errors and missed chances. But let alone the errors, his passing, movement, everything, was so awful today. And it was coming as well, we all know he'll never make a good full back. Matter of time before a class team exposed the fact. Santon needs to be given exposure, he cant be worse than Ryan. Some of us argued about Ben Arfa coming in for Obertan after the Everton game, and some said why break up a winning team. Well I think Ben Arfa was easily our best player today, the only one who looked to run at them and had confidence enough in his ability to take them on. Sad he fluffed that finish though. If Santon is a natural full back he really should be coming in and getting a few games under his belt.

Overall wasnt a bad performance though was it? Could have been a very different game had we taken our chances, City didnt threaten anywhere as much as they usually do and all their goals were as a result of individual errors.

Pardew really ought to have a go at Man Utd, they've looked vulnerable all season and we showed today we can cause the best of team a few problems.

I don't expect us to get anything at Old Trafford but definitely think we can beat Chelsea at SJP.

Reckon so; their defense has been quite shoddy this season, and Cech is a vastly overrated keeper.

I'd accept a draw but a defeat would be a disappointing result against them.

I have always wondered why people think Cech is good, he really is very average.
