IF we end up with Nike stadium or similar, and IF we are given a 10 mill/year contract and IF those money will be injected into the transfer budget, that will soothe my rage a little bit. Still unforgiveable mind...

But at least point 2 and 3 is highly unlikely. Will go into "running costs" if anything. New bore hole probably...

All comes out of one pot tbh, the bigger the pot the better.

Am somewhat doubtfull it'll come off.

Breathes new life into HF's recanted theory

Thing is its impossible to predict or foresee if getting this deal would actually make us spend more money on players.

History points to this not being the case, The Carroll money has yet to be spent, and if 35 million cant make us open our pockets, I doubt another 8-10 mill will...

Only thing that would clear things up would be to plant a microphone on derek or Mike and record what is going on in the boardroom, everything else is just speculation.

But based on our transfer history the last 5 years, you`d be hard-pressed to make a case for increased spending..

When does our Puma deal expire? Nike aren't going to sponsor fuck all if Puma are making our shirts.

Can't see it being Nike (and thus it's likely a fluff piece), they don't need to sponsor shirts, they get their logo all over the shop anyway (irrespective of shirt sponsor) with the strips they manufacture for other teams, and they also do the current ball.

Puma deal runs out at end of the season I think, sure I read that somewhere but could be wrong.

Nike suffers a bit in football, Adidas is the dominant brand and always will be because of their intimacy with FIFA. One of the Dassler brothers put Blatter in his position iirc so they have political and commercial strength. There is therefore an academic case for Nike increasing its brand profile but it's not going to happen.

Fuck that anyway, I still don't see why we would want to sell our souls for £10m a season, £10m is peanuts in the grand scheme of things even IF any of it went back in to the team.

Aye, you need at least 10 times that to even think about challenging the top 5-6. We have settled for midtable, why smear faeces in our faces by renaming St James? Mid-table we can begrudgingly accept for the time being, this no.

Once again repeating myself but it isn't worth £10m.

Like most global corporations, its 2012 activity will be planned to within an inch of its life before the end of 2011.

£10m is loads of money, in any other context us receiving that increase in income is a godsend. Its hypothetical anyway but its a lot of money.

In theory if Nike did sponsor our team along with naming the stadium could you imagine the loyalty they could buy if they called it back to the original name of St James park. They would be classed as heros for giving the Stadium back it's name along with appeasing the fans and buying the brand loyalty of Newcastle United fan base. Newcastle United on the other hand would benefit from bigger sponsorship. They could still have the Nike logo all over the stadium as its show cased and that would be great for commercial branding.

Fuck I am should be advising brands here!

It would be 2 days of good publicity localised to one region for £10m.

I still don't believe the club will be able to sell the naming rights.

More like 2 days of nation and europewide good publicity..with all doors open to build further on it.

like Nike @ St.James Park or just the Logo etc... Im not in PR but I can see this being made into a giant ball of sugar for Nike... if they play their cards right.

On the Nike thing, (which I personally doubt/ed) was looking at SD's last financial report, to try and find their marketing budget, and the Nike Swoosh is plastered all over it (strikingly visible in most of the pictures) and................:

The Nike Training Academy at our Shirebrook Headquarters has

provided extensive specialist training in the Nike range as well as future

developments in that range.

To date 997 employees have attended over 16 days training. All 997

attained Nike undergraduate level and 227 attained graduate status.

This is the first time Nike has joined with a retail partner in such a

facility anywhere in the world.

2 + 2 = 7 and 3/4
