Fully understand your argument, Sentimental, but I do feel that FIFA should make an effort when specifically asked.

but thats just it, asking is a case of sending an email or making a phone call, its not exactly a great job but who gets the job of deciding what conflicts warrant an emblem or what issues are allowed to be put on show on a football shirt?

if no one gets any movement then yes people are going to be pissed off but they'll be pissed off fairly and equally at least and, as has been said, the staff can still all wear poppies on the sidelines, the players could still all come out with them on those stupid jackets they wear for the anthem and I think im right in saying there will still be a minutes silence at the start

the rule just says "no kit changes midseason" and its being enforced

Mate, I get dozens of emails, phone calls and meetings at work every day and have to make many decisions. Most I will get right, some I will unfortunatley get wrong. But getting some wrong and achieving something is better than making no decisions and doing nothing at at all.

do any of your decisions concern offending entire nations?

Nah, the last time someone asked me to burn a US flag and a Koran on live TV, I politely declined.

Some brilliant rapeage of Kebabeyes' profile settings there.

I'm claiming cyber bullying. I'm a defenceless pussycat in the sceme of things compared to these nasty mods. Completely unprovoked attack, like.

When you passed judgement on the appropriateness of us wearing a poppy on our shirt in relation to the needs of other countries doing something similar. Thats a moral judgement.

I disagree on it being a moral judgement on my part but if thats the case

what level of significance do fifa say "no this is a frivolous abuse of the rules we wont allow it"?

who has the right to decide that? fact is if they allow the use of the poppy then they have no fair grounds to refuse any other nation the right to any other emblem

I understand the argument about needing to treat other nations in the same way but i would argue (for the sake of it tbh) that there is no 'other' comparable war. I do get why the rule exists though and i dont see why the FA needs the poppy on the shirt to promote the cause well.

I do see an inherent weakness in the whole argument in that National sides are sponsored by private corporations, private corporations are funded by private capital and that same private capital is deployed in many cases for political ends. I bet if i spent a few hours looking into it, i could connect money sponsoring national sides to e.g. arms dealing.

The rule seems to suggest its ok to have a vested political interest associated with the sport as long as its not overtly political.

Howay man, I've eaten humble pie FFS. Let me have my fuck Ireland banner back, or at least my pic of Cabaye!

What did you do?

I said that I really, really love Ireland so my profile got raped. But I love Cabaye more, so I want my Cabaye back!

Bollocks, there has only been 2 World Wars and the second one was the most significant event in the history of mankind.

Good debate there. Not the reformation? Or the invention of the printing press.

It's hard to argue against the effect WWII had on the world like, population wise, politically and technologically as well as the effect it had on modern morality, not to mention the cold war and the rise of the US.

I've already said what I'm doing.

And no, never been to Cenotaph, been to Les Crottes in Ardeche numerous times, which is an equally poignant monument to the brutality of war.

I don't really give a toss what you are doing this Sunday, or any other Sunday, tbh.

I'm not answerable to you anyway chum, if you occasionally made a sensible post about something, I might find the time to give you a few seconds of my time.

Somebody mentioned students a few pages back. I fucking hate students, and I'm a graduate. I even hated students when I was a student, do to my constant frustration in dealing with the hippy twats who ran my student union trying to get anything out of them. Bunch of lazy, self important, patronising, leftie cunts who know fuck all about the world but proceed to ram their useless do-gooding bullshit down everyones' throats because of what they read in the communist manifesto.

If you're a student and are reading this, then fuck off and take your head for a shit, you ultrabastard.

He's played 11games for spurs man

When did he become fucking cafu?

About the same time that Simpson became good enough for an England call up. He's been very impressive for QPR and Villa aside from his turn outs for Tottenham. We paid £500,000 for Danny Simpson, and I have no grudge towards him over Unitedgate, he's no different from most people of his age group from inner city Manchester - thick as fuck, clueless and dopey as fuck. Anyway I think that's his value 500k, and it's almost embarrassing him watching him tweet about England call ups, we will outgrow Simpson as early as this season. He's a decent put on, but no more than that, his level is Wigan/Cardiff/Leeds, he doesn't offer enough going forward, and hides at times to be considered anywhere near England class. Can you seriously imagine "Simmo" scoring the goal Walker did against the Arsenal?

you're right there Stevie, of course some people think a good run [against the weaker teams in the league, largely] supercedes regular european competition for 14 years, and some other people who live in Manchester don't even make a contribution to a debate about a player they should know a little bit about, preferring to stay in the backround and post meaningless babble later when they see if he's any good or not.....

And mancmag is probably drinking in front of the PC right now, how sad is that. :icon_lol:

that is correct, and the principle extends into many other areas.

Without doubt. The only two players to come out of with any credit was the United Kingdom (and it's commonwealth allies i.e. not those fat fuckin uncle Buck cunts) and the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics. Which means in human history we are a special case, we were anyway, and should be treat as such. Even forgetting about the actual war itself, we had the technology to make a difference to the whole world, but not the manufacturing capabilities of the USA, so we just fucking gave them everything, it's absolutely incredible we gave them things that were actually priceless, yet the USA still charged us for 50 years for war debts in them arming us. Absolute cunts.

I'm not saying it didn't have a huge effect, absolutley it did.

But Nations/empires rise and fall all the time. I know shamefully little about it, but the reformation triggered wars that went on for centuries. There's still some unsavoury fighting amonst Catholics and Protestants today if you want to talk about legacy. There's been plenty of empires that have risen and fallen off the back of many wars in the meantime.

Who gives a fuck about a right backs iq or goal scoring abilities? Simpson, like Taylor before him, gets so much unwarranted stick. He helped get us promoted, helped put us 3rd and helped make a formidable rw partnership with Barton last season.

I'd hardly say it was formidable. He's a decent put on, but that's all, most MATCH-GOING NON FAKE BOYCOTTING supporters will tell you the same. He's not an outlet, he doesn't like having the ball, that's honestly. Sooner Santon gets a regular game the better for our long term prospects, if someone like Villa are daft enough to give us 3m I'd snap their hauns off.

I'm a non-match going, fake boycotting so-called fan but that's a spot on assessment. Simpson is a shit footballer and he's not great defensively either. On top of which he thinks he's a canny bit better than he actually is.

He hides a lot, I've noticed. He's also adept (a la Stephen Carr) at making runs where he looks like he wants the ball but actually doesn't. Conning the fans basically.

Agreed.

I call him 'The cone'

Fair enough he's not a great footballer but there's no need for that language.

Oh, you said cone!
