Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
I'm getting a new desktop and have narrowed it down to a few set-ups. I'm looking for advice on which is the better processor: The AMD Phenom II X2 565 3.4GHz or the Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz I'll be using it for photo processing, streaming vids, and general internet usage and word processing. Not into games.

Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
"onboard graphics" even if you're not playing games they're always crap tbh esp if you stream any high def content the amd's cpu power would prob be grand for what you need tbhand the graphics card should be considerably better. if you're going spend 370 i'd go the extra £20 for this http://www.cclonline...em/CCL-AMD-FAM/ better graphics and the cpu in that one will be quicker than the I3 Isn't that the same one as the middle link I posted above? Phil 6
Eh? The CPU benchmark shows the i3 is almost twice as good as the AMD. The i3 also has double the disk size, which is quite important as the prices have tripled in the last two weeks and dont look like coming down. Dont bother getting a graphics card you dont need. That card is only £40 on Amazon. My media center has a Gigabyte motherboard and the onboard graphics can play 1080p and supports hardware acceleration. I'd give them a call to check the spec as the spec and overview dont match (1tb vs 500gb and gigabyte vs asus).
