ajax_andy 0
Smallish squad, not many superstars, success built on a good defence and a great team spirit. Reminds me of the days when my own club were achieved two 5th place finishes in a row recently and slightly further back 4th. Always good to see a team who isn't splashing the cash on over paid mercinaries beating off some of the big boys and riding high in the league. Obviously I hope it all comes crashing down at the weekend and we hammer you, but apart from that I'm actually happy that you guys are doing so well in a league that is becoming more and more dominated by the elite clubs. Thanks for your sentiment mate, but we're not Norwich. It was perfectly normal for us to be in the Champions League wasn't like something we thought would never happen again felt like that was it forever, Man City and Tottenham have been in ONCE. We've been accustomed to being up there in the last 15 years, our recent history has been disasterous, but this group of "elite clubs" as you put it, are only elite because of the money being pumped in to them. Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool have a bigger fanbase in this country than Newcastle but none of Chelsea, Tottenham or Man City do and that's a fact. They're not elite clubs, they're rich clubs who are away from us till we get someone who will put us in their money league. Newcastle AND Everton have more right to term themselves as elite clubs compared to the three I mentioned, certainly in terms of history. As for Everton it's never easy, I always look at it and think we should be getting three points off these but you're like little terriers humping away at your leg, annoying but effective. I think Cahill is normally good against us and it's pleasing that he's likely to be missing although, not bothered that Fellaini's missing either way. Yeah I said Elite but Rich might have been a better turn of phrase I agree Tbh I'm happy Cahill is missing, he hasn't scored in nearly a year... we are far more effective when we play a 4-2-3-1 than the 4-4-1-1 when he is in the team these days. In fact i'd much rather Felliani was playing than Cahill, but as both are out I wouldn't be surprised to see Ross Barkley start and it'd be a good test for him if he does. Drenthe will be back after a one match ban and think he'll cause you problems, but your defence has been excellent and our strikeforce awful, so I'm not holding out a lot of hope... It'll be close though as our games usually are.

Well that's something I didn't realise. Slightly disingenuous like. I'd suggest the first 13 games of 95/95 yielded more points than our last 13. Longest run without a defeat since then though. ajax_andy 0
well im very suprised from a everton fan praising us like but i guess there is some nice people in society not all but some Haha I have my odd moment of being nice... although I've rubbed a few up the wrong way on here too in the past being slightly less complimentary lol! But I always say credit where credit's due and the Toon deserve a lot of credit for the way they have performed so far this season. I mean its 10 games unbeaten this season... it's a great run and nice to see someone other than the expected monopoly doing well and sitting so high in the table. However because you're not owned by an arab and haven't spent billions on players (in fact the opposite really) you probably aren't getting the credit you deserve. Always seems the media will fall over themselves to praise teams who buy success, yet a team who does well without spending money and building instead a great team spirit gets only a brief nod of recognition at most. I guess that's the sky sports culture we live in these days, but when we were flying high I still remember us being last on MOTD most weeks and constantly referred to as "punching above our weight"... to me that's bollocks... if you're 3rd, or 5th or what ever then you deserve to be there as you have achieved the results required. So hats off to the Toon, I just hope you pick up your good form again after we thump you this weekend

McFaul 35
We did 5 or 6 in a row under Roeder when he took over from Souness, don't know about since then. I'm turning in to HF, even the stubble is turning ginger.
