sweetleftpeg 0
I went to university with a Norwegian lad who as soon as he graduated was off to do his National Service. He was a canny fat non-sporty computer geek so I expect it probably went quite well.

LeazesMag 0
Just a note on Wigan, they have the same points as Blackburn but they look a far better side than that. They're a strange side, look to play some decent stuff which is commendable but I think they may have to bring in the big hoooof if they want to stay up. Hey, isn't it great being able to patronise other teams from the lofty position of 4th? Marvellous. A Leeds fan on twitter yesterday, he said "Noowcastle are a t'joke club a say t'joke club 'oo can't attract t'anyone decent". I says joke fuckin club, we've just signed a 24 year old mainstay of France's midfield, this weekend we sit 4th top of the most competitive league in the world three points clear of fifth, we are a joke club, yet you're fucking struggling at London fucking Road and have been out the top flight 8 fucking years! It's lovely. Well, an old mate of mine when I lived in Scaaaborough is a Leeds supporter but generally speaking, most of them are wankers, who think they are rivals to ManU. ManU don't give a fuck about Leeds though, and do think they are a big club, bigger than us, although they struggle to fill a 44,000 ground when they were playing in the European Cup. I said a while ago, that when I lived there, they had a talk-in, in what was my local at the time, with Allan Clarke, Lorimer and someone else [poss Yorath] and Clarke said that Leeds are bigger than Newcastle. As I didn't go, they told me later what he had said, so I just reminded them basically what I said above and also the fact that before Revie they were nothing and now they are nothing again. They were mostly OK lads when you got to know them, just wankers in how they see Leeds United.

Greedy, miserable, depressing, deluded, heartless, insular, and that's the good ones. The contrast between Tykes and Geordies is very stark in my admittedly limited experience. I realise this is a massive generalisation but I've generally found Tykes to wear misery and dourness as a badge of pride, whereas Geordies are the polar opposites. It's probably something to do with accents as well.

Someone once said to me geordies look down their nose at everybody else. We do, with good reason.
Kitman 2207
What's Leeds like these days? Back in the day it was an utter shit hole with grim student suburbs like Headingley and decaying ex-textile towns like Bradford as satellites. And Peter Sutcliffe was stalking the town at one point. I've heard it's massively improved these days with a huge amount of investment in the city and a bit of a financial centre too. The only place near Leeds I can recall liking was Ilkley, but this was years ago now.
Dr Gloom 22185
Leeds has some shitholes, no doubt. I was mugged by 4 hoodies in Hyde Park on the way back to a mate's house after a night out as a student. but the city centre is really nice. Good shops, bars, restaurants etc. Edited October 25, 2011 by Dr Gloom
