I thought I read somewhere (on here?) that he wanted to play for Eire.

No direct quotes, but that was supposedly the plan.

There was an article more recently that he spoke to Gerry Armstrong and had said he had always wanted to play for NI and had never said anything differently.

Why would you play for Northern Ireland though, I don't understand it. The vast majority of people at Windsor Park hate catholics and would love nothing more than Norn Iron to be exclusively loyalist state. In their eyes catholics and republicans are scum, I'd want to play for Rep Of Ireland, unless I had an English grandmother of course, they must owe us about 40 players up to nuw the cunts.

Worth thinking about playing for Norn Iron imo as it's probably easier to get games than for the Republic. I think it helped Aaron Hughes develop (especially early in his career). I assume Hughes is a Catholic (going by his name).

Poor form that. Can only assume he wants to play for the Republic.

I suspect it has more to do with not wanting to play for Nigel Worthington than not wanting to play for Norn Iron. iirc he turned out for the U21 side not so long ago. There's every chance Worthington will get the sack after the next match, which would sort the issue if that's what this is about

Nah, quite a few Hughes on either side.

Plus he just looks like one of them.

Many proddies called Aaron though? ;)

I'd never thought of the name Aaron being one way or the other. But I know the family and he's definitely one of them. The disproportionate distance between his eyes gives it away too.

Mono brow as well  I went out with a lass once (Catholic, mam and dad from Clones) who has a brother called Aaron so I sort of assumed it was Gaelic but thinking about it, it's Biblical, isn't it?

Anyway, I think getting games at that level can help a young player develop, like I said. Would Ferguson get in the Republic squad? Genuine question as I haven't got a clue.

I've got no doubt if you played for Northern Ireland you'd get a reception like Neil Lennon, as opposed to someone like Paddy McCourt.

Is he not a Rangers fan?

Come on then, explain.

I can just imagine you being the same type of character.

You're going to have to explain that a little further, just for clarity.
