Jonas Gutierrez signs new four year deal

Certainly true of Enrique. I'm not so certain about Carroll though...

He didnt have to go, could have said no. I bet he`s regretting it now and he`s not looking the same player over there thats for sure. I asked a few of the Liverpool fans at work to wager me that he would outscore BA this season(before last Sat) and none of them would take me up on it. Most dont rate him and reckon they play better football without him

Liverpool fans in West Sussex ?

Anyway, one player doesn't define a transfer policy as either good or bad. Liverpools transfer policy and ambitions have more than stood the test of time. Who do you think has the best transfer policy and ambitions, ourselves or Liverpool ?

Quite a few down here

It's pretty obvious Liverpool are splashing the cash to get into the champions league. I guess we will see if they are successful in due course. If they don't I would be inclined to say their policy has failed. I think they have spent big on average players but have also got in very good players like Jose,Suarez and Bellamy on a free was excellent.

Although the club made a complete farce of getting a striker in by the looks of the team so far we are looking a better side than the one that ended last season. Cabaye is class and I'm sure there are a lot more goals in BA. Need to see more of Marveux and I reckon Obertan will get better with more games.

So if Liverpool don't get top 4 and we finish top 8 I would say our policy has been a success and theirs a failure. If they do then obviously its worked, simple really

FABRICIO COLOCCINI wants to join his fellow countryman Jonas Gutierrez and commit his peak years to Newcastle United.

Argentine winger Jonas has signed a new four-year deal with the Magpies, and the Chronicle understands Coloccini is ready to sit round the table and discuss a new contract at St James’ Park.

United officials are thought to be receptive to the idea, although the negotiations will be largely about the former La Liga star’s weekly wage rather than the length of any potential new deal.

Captain Colo has two years left of his existing deal and is understood to be the club’s top earner on around £90,000 per week.

Former Deportivo La Coruna and AC Milan defender Coloccini will be 30 in January, and knows the days of Newcastle paying out inflated wages are over.

But the South American has always made his affection for the area and the club crystal clear.

Speaking about the pair’s love for the club, Gutierrez told the Chronicle: “Colo and I love life at Newcastle and want to spend our best years here.

“Since Newcastle returned to the Premier League, Colo has been in great form.

“This wasn’t a surprise for me because I played against him many times in La Liga when he was at Depor and I was at Real Mallorca.

“He is a very important player for us. He is doing really well as captain and he has a big experience of playing in first-class matches.”

Jonas also feels Coloccini has been a real hit since taking over as captain from Kevin Nolan.

He said: “Colo is a really good guy, and I think all of the players like him.

“They speak highly of him and he can tell them about all of the experience he has.”

Many expected both Coloccini and Gutierrez to head for the exit door at the club’s Benton base when their close pal Jose Enrique began to get itchy feet last January.

But Newcastle’s two Argentina international stars have proven to be refreshingly committed to the black-and-white cause through good times and bad.

However, Jonas knows he has Sylvain Marveaux breathing down his neck in the battle for first-team places.

Responding to the competition, Jonas said: “It’s OK, I never care about competition for place, it is good for football.

“Everywhere I have played I have done so with competition.

“I always do my best, and competition is also good for other players.

“I have the opportunity to do my best from the start of the season.

“I hope that I am prepared for that but we must find good results as well.”

Fuck me Leazes ruins pretty much every thread these days, would be nice to come on here one day and not have to try and find the rare thread he hasn't started banging on about his usual shit. Worse than any other club wum I have ever come across.

Anyway.. good news this, Jonas can be the most frustrating player ever when he is at his worst but he is a very, very useful player :D

Why don't you just say that Mike Ashley is wonderful and you want to have his babies ?

:D

PS. My initial post, concerning Pardew and his desire to keep Jonas for playing reasons [directed at mancmag] is actually correct, but typically you and other lunatics are unable to see it, such is your obsession with disagreeing with anything I say. You call me a "wum" because you have a different "opinion" to me, although mine has proved to be the correct one ? You're completely mad.

PPS. You can't say that I "ruin every thread" when you make a direct and unnecessary reference to me

How obsessed is that

What exactly is it that you're saying LM? Not sure I follow, are you saying this was a decision imposed from above?

From what I can gather, the only thing he's saying is that he fervently disagrees with something that I never actually said.

Well as usual on here it's important to disentangle the pov from the poster. LM is saying something which a lot of people have also said; decisions at the club are dominated by financial considerations not footballing ones and that in this particular case the decision has nothing to do with Pardew.

I know I keep banging on about this but this is a perfect example of fitting events to a narrative. What should prick up the attention is that the 'event' doesn't neatly fit into the narrative. Which means the direct implications of Leazes's argument here is that Derek Llambias is a footballing genius (it's the only logical conclusion that can be drawn). Hence there is a problem. LM is not the only one who does this so I don't know why he is getting stick in this thread.

The facts of the matter are that a new deal for Jonas makes sense from both a footballing and financcial perspective. The extension to the contract doesn't mean that he will play for us until 2015. It does however mean there won't be any pressure to sell him next season when his contract position would make a bid for the player attractive. This signals that the club medics and fitness experts (and me too) clearly see Jonas as retaining his athleticism later than players like Nolan and Barton who let's face it were running out of it at 28. Ther are clear and specific reasons to do this and none of them relate to the storyline people try to impose on events. Not this time anyway.

You ruin this place for everyone, grow the fuck up and change your tune or just fuck off. It's getting fucking tedious and I don't see what you get from it.

You have spouted crap for years. You're just a big bairn, crying WUM at people who "disagree" with you.

Nobody asked you to refer to me btw.

I had, and still have, a different "opinion" to you, and mine has proved to be correct. Get over it, if you can't accept that, then you fuck off. Newcastle Online has many idiots who "agreed" with you, and still do presumably.

My point is that the contract for Jonas is business orientated, not football, and the manager has played no significant part. This is wrong, but its the way NUFC have chosen to go under this owner.

Like it or lump it, you can turn a blind eye if you don't want to hear it, but this is correct.

what's wrong with you ? What exactly does

"would lead to Pardew make a strong case for his retention" mean, if it doesn't imply that Pardew played a significant part in this decision.

I don't believe that for a moment, and if anyone else other than me said it, you'd be agreeing.

You're bonkers mate.

The new contract probably is a bit of both tbh. Hes a decent player who does a job for us, and he is not too old to be sold for a fistful of pounds next summer should we want someone - whisper it - with better crossing/end-product.

I dont see the problem with admitting its for both fotballing and business-reasons that he has been handed a new contract. Does it have to be either? Most clubs today are run like this, to a different degree of cource. We are perhaps a bit heavy on the business-side of things, but thats a debate for another day.

Hey, if this means we can shift Jonas for 5 mill next summer and get some young talented winger Im all for it!

More buffoonery from you.

Read my post. What's the first line (that you've conveniently omitted)? I said I was surprised with the news and that this surprise was based on the financials (because they clearly take precedence at NUFC) and that the only way I could make any sense of it was if his wages did not exceed Cheick's. I'm consistently on record (numerous threads) as saying that all players will go who don't fall in line with the financials.

The bit about Pardew (mentioned second) was saying that you could see how he'd want to keep hold of him due to what he offers, not that he gets his way and is backed to the hilt regardless of cost. Ayatollah Hermione even points this out to you.

You're clearly still massively stinging from HF's post (Tecato's sig) because your eagerness to go argue the toss since then has gone through the roof, even by your standards, to the extent you're now prepared to just make things up. You were exposed as a bit of a clot and it should really have been your cue to either pipe down or leave the forum (again), but instead you're insisting on compounding how daft you already look. Just count how many people in this thread alone are telling you that you appear foolish to them and try to have some self-awareness for your own sake.

Put him on ignore gejon, it's the only way. It won't stop him replying to things you post but can't see because you've blocked him, or sending you pms either for that matter.

what is your point to posting this, other than to somehow blame me - again - for your constant moaning ?

You moaned on when we had a good football team and a good club, now you are moaning on again because we don't have a good football team and a good club ?

For the record too, that post of yours, is not a reply or response to anything I've directed at you.

I sent you a pm ages ago asking if you knew a friend of mine who lives near you.....you didn't reply, what was wrong with that ?

As has been said, if being proved correct is a "clot", what does it say about those who disagreed with me, like you disagree with everything I post.

The inference about Pardew is clear. But, again, you babble on and go around in circles rather than just be honest about it.

The quote from Tecato was also part of a bigger picture comment, see my own sig. Every single person on here knows where I stand with regard to the old and the new owner of the football club. And, with regard to that, I have not changed my view, and unlike yourself and others, if I ever have cause to do so, I will admit that I changed my view because my initial one was incorrect.

You should try it sometime, instead of continuing with that superiority complex you have.

My comments about Jonas stands. Pardew had nothing to do with that decision, despite your clear insinuation that he either had, or even may have done. Can you get back onto the thread, and reply, rather than following me around like this ?

Leazesmag, maybe he didnt. But then again, neither was Harry Redknapp concerning Modric. He can say whatever he wants, in the end Levy is the one pulling the plug..

I dont see that as a problem really. I mean ideally I would like the manager to be in charge, but its not how it works atm. Why bother winding yourself and others up over something we can do nothing about?

LeazesMag, are you a massive supporter of Derek Llambias? Why do you keep making posts that portray him as a footballing genius?

Cabaye + Tiote for £8m = ridiculously good business. You are saying the manager has no say in these matters, therefore Llambias created our best central midfield in a generation for just a bit more than the cost of Craig Gardner.

I had you down as a critic of the board tbh.

Llambias is not the owner of the club Chez, and neither was Freddie Shepherd.

Do you continue to think the club is being run on progressive lines yourself ?

Despite mancmags comments "eagerness to go argue the toss since then has gone through the roof," I am posting less on here now than I was a month or so ago, so who is making things up ;)

The bit I have highlighted is correct, but mancmag is denying that he insinuated the same thing.

I agree this has all gone way OTT again, but all I did was say exactly what you have also just said.

I think my progress-ometer is just flicking into the positive, theres not much in it but i would argue there has been. Not earth shattering, not enough for who we are as a club but some progress yes.

Nolan leaving was a positive footballing wise, Carrroll has done fuck all since he left, Barton has one good season left in his legs when his lack of pace will force him to play centrally. In a central role, we have better than Barton now.

I'm confident Santon is going to be a great player for us too.

Therefore, progress has been made whether that means it will continue, i dont know. I personally rate Pardew and give him the credit for all this, i personally believe that Pardew (despite saying otherwise) was the person at the club saying we can let Nolan and Barton go. Firstly because of the style of football he wants (not always succeeding) to play and secondly because they were threats to his authority.
