Lake Bells tits 1
The fact of the matter is that we dont need more strikers, we need better ones. And proven quality is not going to be cheap. So the thought of a quality striker coming in, is something i think we can safely nip in the bud. JawD 99
I can here it now "trouble is no one wants to lose a striker in Jan, we may have to make do with what we have but to be fair, Besty has taken his chance and is doing alright". 2bias 3
We do have loads of strikers in the squad tbf.... Shola Ranger Demba Lova Besta Jr Shola Zamblera Barfa (?) Vuckic (?) Mebeez see a like for like change. If we can manage to sell any of those who are over 25 we'll bring in a young foreigner to replace. Zamblera got sacked yesterday. Obertan is classed as a forward. Park Life 71
Think with Best on 9 tap ins from 19 games they'll see it as less of a priority to get someone top drawer in and fob us with some Kevin Doyle type wank. I'd like to see a Woodcock and Francis type partnership upfront with Bafra and Canaye pulling the strings. And then we can move out of the desert and into the promised land. StoneColdStephenIreland 74
I think we'll sign a striker, who I dont know, but no doubt they'll prolong the signing of one, which will take the spotlight off the need for defensive back-up and it will be the only signing we make. I can see them trotting out the line about how, the January window has always been the time for players values to be exaggerated and we're not gonna be held to ransom etc

ohhh_yeah 2939
"It was everyone’s desire at the club to bring in another striker. We worked hard to bring in a partner for Besty. Ultimately, we were staggered when an offer too good to refuse came in for Besty. All of our efforts switched to getting this deal done. The process took longer than expected. With the time remaining, we worked diligently to offer the next name on our list of foreign players, a chance to make their dream of moving to the Premier League viable. Mike Ashley, Derek LLambias, and Alan Pardew would all like to apology that we could not capture the signature of a quality striker. You still have every right to be confident with us and our goal of a top 10 finish. We would like to invite you down to take pictures of yourselves next to cardboard cut-outs* of us. To find the full list of various locations where they will be placed, please visit the official site. " *we are thinking of erecting a statue with our likeness and want to gauge the number of supporters who get their picture taken.* Edited September 20, 2011 by ohhh_yeah

Noelie 103
I think we'll get a striker to appease the disgruntled fans. I think he will be half-way decent but not a marqee player. I think he will come cheap to fit the Board's plan. I think he will get a 4 - 5 year contract. I think his wages will fit the Board's plan. I think all the money received for Carroll, Nolan, & Enrique, will not be spent.

Kitman 2204
To have any chance of signing a new striker, we'll have to shift a couple of the current batch imo. That's they way these guys operate.
TicTacWoe 0
Depends a lot on injuries/form etc. If we keep going scraping decent results on a semi regular basis than I could see them sticking with what we have. If Ben Arfa/Ba/Best etc get a few injuries or we're playing shite I'd say we'll get a new striker in the 3-6 million price range.
Guest alex
I reckon it depends mainly on the 'right player being available at the right price'. If we're right in the shit it'll force their hand though (although it didn't in 2009). I don't think we will be in too much danger of going down though. Dr Gloom 21790
i'm all for him pards talking up the players to build their confidence and keep the team spirit going. but this latest quote troubles me. even if the current lot do well between now and christmas, we could still do with another quality forward brought in. "We've got real quality in a strong side and we're going to win more than we lose. My forwards are rising to the challenge of proving that I don't need to sign another striker and this team's starting to excite me."
Dr Gloom 21790
don't fancy this quote either. we're still woefully short at full back and centre half, as well as midfield. “Some of our players are beginning to find their feet in this division and are beginning to blossom and I think there’s real competition in all areas." on the plus side, the midfield is looking good, with some interesting options, especially in wide areas. with ben arfa coming bacl too
Tooj 17
I'd still like us to bring in a left-back so Santon can play on the right, which means Simpson won't be playing.
toonotl 2948
Agreed we already needed two fullbacks before we sold Enrique.
Holden McGroin 6471
If we spent £8m on Demba Ba then there wouldn't be that much expectation on getting a new striker. Likewise if Cabaye/Ben Arfa cost £10m as well. It's all perception in terms of the players we have. The core of the team looks solid to me. Of course Fatty should have strengthened even further. I'll probably get slated for this but I think Ba will come good & Best will be decent squad player. With Ben Arfa & Marveux to come in then we can still go up a notch. The huge problem we have at the mo is full backs. We desperately need 2 quality ones in January (Also need a good CB for cover). Left back especially. Jonas is doing an admiral job helping out Raylor but if we have some quality there we could well see a more offensive player (Ben Arfa/Marveux) add an extra attacking dimension on the wing. At the mo Jonas has to play.
