One of his main strengths seems to be his ability to test the keeper from long range - something he wouldn't be able to do too much of if he was sitting in front of the defence. Marveaux is still a bit of an unknown property, playing in the League Cup against Forest doesn't really change that (as far as Pardew is concerned anyway). I think he'll plan to play 4-4-1-1 with Ben Arfa in behind the striker. I think that gives him licence to play where he wants but keeps us quite solid. The midfield'll be Jonas-Tiote-Cabaye-Obertan with Cabaye playing the further forward of the midfield two. Just going off the three goals we conceeded Perch seemed poor for all of them (although the way the ball was deflected into Derbyshire's patch for the second goal seemed a bit of a fluke) and Elliot didn't exactly suggest he should be in ahead of Krul or Harper. I'm trying to shoehorn Marveux in. If Marveux is any good at all....and he looks like like he may be....then obertan won't hold down a place as he doesn't do enough of anything.
