rogerbarton 24
He's got very little end product but gives us an outlet. Think he's quite crucial to Pardew's gameplan, particularly away from home when we're breaking upfield.
Kid Dynamite 7192
He looked good last week. Possibly his worst game for us today. They're my favourite type of players

toonotl 3128
I don't think he's all that bad to be honest. Yeah there's no end product and he's not the most gifted mentally but he's got pace and decent skill on the ball. I still maintain he can get better and be a good player for us with the proper development. He's terribly inconsistent at the moment, but that doesn't mean he deserves to be slagged off for it. These types of players are frustrating and divide opinion but remember Jonas was similar at the beginning and he has adjusted. I'm not saying he can play at Jonas' level, but he is useful on occasion and he could develop further. Tin hat on.
Aeris 0
Somebody needs to tell Obertan that he's footballisticly retarded so he can start doing something about it. He needs to learn how to make a decision all by himself...
sniffer 0
I'm amazed that it has taken so long for some people to see how bad obertan is. I was beginning to wonder if we were watching the same game as I've pointed out time and time again how wasteful he is. I'll add now that I think he is a coward. When you talk about a keeper making himself big, I think obertan is the opposite. He makes himself as small as possible, hiding from the ball by standing close to opponents with absolutely no movement to make himself available. Added to the fact he's usually put that player into trouble anyway with some shite pass. Fuuny to look at the beginning of this thread and people's opinions of him and how great he was going to be. Where they got that from I'll never know.

For starters, Jonas has always made himself available at every opportunity to receive the ball, and he has been able to regularly beat players and retain possession, as well as offering excellent support to the full-back--it's his end product that has been lacking. Obertan has offered nothing like that. He is able to carry the ball on a counter-attack when there are no players challenging him. If he is challenged, more often than not he will lose out and then just jog around aimlessly. If he isn't challenged he will inevitably make the wrong decision when the time comes to release the ball. Just because he does a rabona every now and then, when using his left foot would have been the more efficient option, it doesn't mean he's going to develop into a competent player. I disagree he is generally highly involved in our play. Guthrie is always looking wide for him. I can see this is a bandwagon so there's little point going on about it. But I will say, I said Jonas was similar in the way he was criticised early on. Not similar in the way he plays.
Aeris 0
He looks like a guy who can improve his skills with a ball to the Ronaldoesque and train to run even faster than he already is, but he'd still be a retard...
Lake Bells tits 1
There is a fundamental difference between occationally wasting a chance when you get the ball, but still obtain a fair lot of freekicks - and giving the ball away on 8 out of 10 occations.. Howay 12496
He's just completely lacking a football brain in anyway tbh, good athlete but not a footballer. As said earlier he definitely hides from the ball and the amount of times he gets the ball from Simpson or Guthrie and passes it straight back before running behind the player marking him is ridiculous. Puts in 1 decent ball a game maximum which is very poor considering the positions his athleticism allows him to get in, he managed to trick Cole a couple of times but done nothing with it and when you beat a player as good as Cole you have to use that opportunity to put in a good ball. Extremely frustrating player.
ChezGiven 0
At least he wont be playing against Ashley Cole next week who may be, as was pointed out to him numerous times, a wanker but is still probably the best LB in the league and in amongst the top players in that position in the world. That doesnt excuse hiding like he did, was disgraceful.

Lake Bells tits 1
Im not sure on the confidence thing anymore. Confidence makes you doubt yourself, but does it turn you into a retard making retarded decisions time and time again? Im starting to think the oversized brain is hollow as a coconut. I don't think they were heartbroken he left, I've heard Manure fans say he wasn't fit for the Championship after an FA cup game when he got shut out by a League 1 fullback.
